From the Academy-Award nominated film, A Clockwork Orange - In a futuristic Britain, Alex DeLarge is the leader of a gang of "droogs": Georgie, Dim and Pete. One night, after getting intoxicated on drug-laden "milk-plus", they engage in an evening of "ultra-violence", which includes a fight with a rival gang.
In this scene, Alex and his Droogs interrupt a rival gang as they attempt to gang-rape a female. Under the backdrop of a theater as Rossini's overture plays, the rival gang is about to succeed when Alex shows up and challenges the rival gang leader to a fight - the naked female runs off. Mind you, saving the woman was not Alex's goal - he just wanted to perform some of the "ultra-violence."

They should make Alex Delarge a playable character in Mortal Kombat. He can emerge from the shadows, drinking a glass of milk+, exclaiming "how art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles,if you have any yarbles!". He would be a great addition to the MK universe

The whole fight is so ridiculously over-the-top like an old hollywood barfight scene it's as if it's actually Alex's fantasy of the fight. The reality is much more mundane and them all just wailing on their rivals on the ground and Alex screaming as he fantasizes until the sirens cut through it. Then his simple, mundane "It's the police, let's go" is almost a letdown of a line in contrast to his near-shakespearean challenge intro to the fight. That the whole thing takes place in an old theater emphasizes it all the more.

I love this scene so much. If you pay attention to the whole scene, it depicts beautiful masterpieces such as the inspiring art, or the golden ornament with the red curtains, a symbolism of the old Britain rising above the decadent new Britain. Society devolved and went back to the "bottom", the unconscious. Society had gone from pursuing the higher things such as new inventions, discoveries, and creative masterpieces, to violence and sexual deviancy. A devolution of society if you will, where society had degenerated and gone back into only being interested in the primitive and primordial-survival and reproduction (violence and sex). This scene is what happens when empires begin to decline from their peak of greatness.

My dad told me he spent his teenage years like this. Before guns really came into play, street gangs would just have rumbles with fists and melee weapons. He said everybody spent their weekends looking for fights, and if you missed a good one, the guys who were there would tell you, "you missed out!" The only fights I looked for growing up were in Street Fighter 2 on my Super Nintendo.🥴

I always lose it at "You eunich jelly thou." because of my older cousin. He can be a real ass at times; one time he was getting especially on my nerves so I jokingly said he was "starting to ask for one in the yarbles you eunich jelly thou!" He just gave me this confused look, so I said, "That's what happens when you act like a bolshy gloopy bratchny!" He had no knowledge of ACO at that point, he has at least read it since and doesn't act like such a bratchny anymore, but we joke about it sometimes. 😂
