in todays video I'm getting hands on with the Glashutte SeaQ . A 39.5mm divewatch. Underestimated, overlooked, but packing a punch. A luxury pricetag ? Perhaps. But I'm pretty sure it can take on some other classics on the market.
Back to back Glashutte Original video's .. perhaps this together with a PanoReserve makes the Ideal one-brand , two-watch collection.

Got this watch with all three straps including the satin bracelet. Beyond a doubt, nicest dive watch on the market, blows the sub away. On the secondary market they can be picked up for 7-8K. Well worth it.

The sunburst blue-dialled version used to be my grail watch, but now I think that i prefer the more sober understated matte finish of this green dialled model

This is the watch to purchase when you want something more special than a rolex. Mine has a blue dial with a fully brushed bracelet but I wear it on a rubber strap when not in a business suit. It keeps better time in all six positions than my GMT Master 2 - which means better than +/- 2 seconds/day. Best of all it does not intimidate or attract attention until someone looks at it up close. It works on the beach and in the Boardroom. Since I wear it everyday, I never have to wind it.

@@BowlOfSalmon would have preferred a black dial with white markers but no certainty it would be made. Blue is dark enough in indoor lighting to pass as close enough to black for me. What sold me was the incredible finishing, easier to read than any Rolex, and that all movement parts were made in house - none sourced from overseas. I have a strong suspicion that several of the 100+ parts in the ETA movements are made inexpensively overseas. My other two year old $4,000 watch ETA movement has broken twice already for the same reason - stem and crown just pulled right out. Never again will I purcchase an ETA or Selita movement.

Did you get the bracelet fully brushed from Glashütte Original? Or did you have a jeweler do it for you?

@@KLucero22 Got the bracelet new with the watch from the AD. I believe GO started offering the fully brushed bracelet in January 2023.

Loving the look of this one but totally agree about the display caseback mate. And great to see GHO focusing effort on the strap, so often it’s overlooked but it’s the one thing you play with every time you put a watch on and take a watch off, and it deserves some focus. Lovely video, cheers!

I really do think a display case back would help this model get more attention. It is a great size and if the finishing on the movement in this one is anything like in the big brother, it will be an easy sell. I did not get to try them on, but when I saw them at an AD in Las Vegas in 2021, I was really impressed. Watches do not always look as good in person as in photos, but that was not the case with the SeaQ.

The Panorama Date was close to the top of my list of what watch to buy. It is now 100% TOP of my list! For full disclosure, there is one factor that I would love but I can get over it, and that is I find crown guards very aesthetically pleasing, hence the reason why I have been hesitant. I believe GO, as stated in your previous video, is the best value for money by far in the luxury watch range. Finally, you made a spot on closing point - that being, you are very unlikely to see many people, if any (I live in South Africa) wearing this diver as opposed to how often you see a Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Longines, Oris, Breitling to name a few. Mn besten, Je hebt er nen schonke uitgekozen. :) De groene SeaQ stond lang op de lijst als dagelijks metgezel maar uiteindelijk vond ik een Pelagos two liner en viel verliefd. Ik kan zien dat je tijd gestoken hebt in het maken hiervan. Goed gedaan! Hopelijk gaat alles goed voor de rest.

I would buy it if it came in black without the fauxtina, i tried contacting GO for a piece unique in that color combo but they told me to take a hike haha. I badly want this in black with white numerals!

Its a beautiful watch. My wife has the standard steel/black on a rubber strap. I really do wish it had a see through caseback (sadly only on the much more expensive red gold variant) as I suspect that would really help them move units on the sales side. Another 10 hours (if not 30) of power reserve would also help as it isn't 2 day capable (and that gets annoying quick). Regardless, its a fantastic watch.

@@BowlOfSalmon Neither did I up until recently; it was released last year. Small rumours a precursor to see through on the other ones as well but I frankly doubt it. If you like a SeaQ, buy a SeaQ because if you are going to want to wait for a see through case back on it you might be waiting a loooong time. The red gold vartiant by the way was a cracker....but my wife didn't like the incremental weight and its already a relatively large watch for a woman without adding in gold weight to the mix.

If this had a display case back, I wouldn’t give the Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Watches a second thought; the SeaQ is just sleeker and more attractive overall

Definitely a great looking watch. I wonder why they short changed this version. I am sure they have have the technology to have the same under the hood specs as the larger version. These days 70 hours PR should be standard for all divers over 10k.

One of my favorite dive watches. The bracelet, with it's micro adjustment system, is even better than the strap version. Let's be realistic, it is a better watch in most facets than a sub. The size is great, and very similar to my 39 Explorer. Also, the lume is fantastic. My only complaint is that the back is not open like on the larger version. With such a lovely movement, why would you hide it.

Every time I come around to wanting to buy this watch I stop. Love everything about this watch except the power reserve. For the price, I would want more than 40hrs of power reserve. I really would want a weekend-proof movement. Lots of competition for this price range and 40hrs just doesn't measure up. Hopefully that will be the next iteration, but until then loved the video!

Thx for watching. Okay yes. Lots of reactions about the mvmt. I should have been harder on that. I guess I rotate too many watches to let this be a dealbreaker for me somehow. But yeah. It is a good feeling being able to take out a watch from the safe after the weekend and have it still running.

I get the argument about the movement, not that it ever bothered me with my Explorer II 16570, which is one of my all time favorite watches. But why would you want a "weekend-proof" movement for a watch intended to be worn on weekends? I get this argument for a dress watch, which one puts down on Friday evening and picks up on Monday morning, but this one is very well suited to weekend activities.

Mine is consistently within chronometer specs around +2 s/d. More accurate than the BB58 and BB Pro I previously owned, which are both certified chronometers.

GO is fooling us in my opinion. The PanoMatic has a silicone hairspring and what looks to be 2 gooseneck regulators for the balance spring. All is but optical because a silicone balance spring cannot be regulated. Looks nice but why is it there in the first place?? Ps. Only Omega has recently released a movement where the silicone balance spring can be (sort of) regulated.

Don’t have all magnetic resistant watches (incl. METAS) silicone hairsprings? So the METAS Tudor also cannot be regulated?

@@user-fo7mf9nd2h not all. The most common technique is to have a cast iron shield around the movement (inside of the case; a plate behind the caseback, and around the movement on the inside)

Beautiful watch, and I love German engineering when it comes to watches; however, the price???? I just don’t see it. Other than aesthetics, you appear to get a better watch, strictly specifications and features speaking, at half the price with an Omega Seamaster of your choice. Which is a shame, because This watch is gorgeous at $5,500.

Not arguing the seamaster is an excellent watch at that price. So is my blackbay58 at whatever price it is now. So is my spb143 at 1k. Just saying. We are talking luxury watches. It just feels more premium that all of the above and there are choices for everyone.

Because the level of finishing is significantly better than that of an Omega Seamaster, with a lot of hand finishing vs. an industrial finishing. So most of the price difference is down to labor.

Way better finishing than any Omega diver. There are subtle transitions between media blasted, brushed, and polished surfaces that need to be seen in person to appreciate.
