Well, here we are again. The start of a new festival season. It's our pleasure to be your eyes and ears on the ground at SLAM DUNK 2023 - a festival that caused a lot of controversy over the last week! I love the range of festivals you all cover. As an Australian I am mad jealous about how many festivals you guys have in the summer. You can see the root of the problem in Leeds, they've put on a festival expectnig 18 yr olds who catch the train and don't have much cash to spend, most of the crowd is 35-50, drove and has cash to spend on food but can't drink cos they are driving. End result huge q's for parking and food.

Slam dunk north was actually a logistical nightmare and actually really unsafe! who thought putting food stalls in-between the stages was a great idea needs a slap... the ques made it a task to get around... Not sure where you guys were but anyways...

I just sacked off the kerrang tent because for no reason at all they kept one side fenced off and stuck near the 2nd main stage and the knotfest tent since that entire part of the festival ground seemed empty as fuck - they had so much spare room and organised it terribly

I agree completely, I've been to SD every year since 2018 and this year was by far the worst logistics wise. I was "lucky" the postcode on their website and app took me to the drop off zone incorrectly so I dumped my car on a random street as I was so fed up after battling my way through Hatfield. Turns out that was the right thing to do as some friends were stuck on the dual carriageway trying to get in for over THREE HOURS! Once there it was clear they'd sold far more tickets than previous years without even touching the infrastructure - just going to the toilet, filling up water and getting some food took nearly 2 hours so I missed some bands I really wanted to see. I even queued for nearly an hour for merch despite getting there at 1pm when most people were still stuck queueing to get in. I also saw barely any staff so the site was disgusting and toilets didn't look like they'd been touched all day. At the stages they definitely didn't have enough security as people kept getting dropped - as much as I hate crowdsurfers, they shouldn't be dropped.

@@MegaCharns they had food stands between stages so there were massive bottlenecks of people trying to walk between stages and weave through all the people sitting down and queueing for food whilst also having people bottlenecking the other way towards you. If they're going to sell that many tickets in the future, the site needs to be much bigger. South was exactly the same size this year as last year despite selling over double the number of tickets.

As I can't make it to many festivalas this year, as have other priorities and engagements for my annual leave, I will be enjoying this years TPD TV festivals vids maybe that much more.
