This week was really honest and so helpful - Victoria was “thrown in at the deep end” not knowing what you were going to ask and she did brilliantly- keeping calm and thinking - I’m probably at her level and to be honest so glad the English was underneath! You both give me hope to carry on studying this beautiful language. Спасибо 🙏

It's really interesting! This concept of learning, I've only been studying a couple of weeks and haven't increased my vocabulary very much, but I can read Russia pretty well! I think "learning a language" is the incorrect way of saying it, rather, training our mind to process in another language.

I think it was very smart of you to start with being able to read, it helped me so much. My boyfriend is very nice and helps me learn by putting on a video from russia on a topic he is interested in, like tanks or food, haha. And then he will pause whenever there is writing somewhere, like on a sign or inside a tank, and ask me what it says. I can read it, and even though I don't necessarily know what it means, it helps my brain to put it in place when I look up the word on forvo

This was an incredibly good way of learning for me, I REALLY hope you two can continue doing this! I know less than her, but I knew a lot of the words she used and seeing them being used in sentences in a slow pace, with you to correct when it was wrong was just 👌🏻! My advice is listen to the news, movies, music , strike up conversations with people in the shops etc, or even practice words in areas you are interested in. Watching these videos is a wonderful way of learning whilst looking at your Russian sub-titles. As a learner, I find it extremely useful to listen to an English speaker speaking Russian because it is mostly understood. After about 9 months of lessons, my teacher and I also switched to the method of speaking only in Russian except when asking for a new word translation. That really helps. Maybe you should have several mornings a week when you only speak Russian at home !
