Join the legendary Phil Anselmo, the enigmatic vocalist of Pantera, as we delve into his remarkable journey in the world of heavy metal. Despite facing harsh criticism and unimaginable tragedy, Anselmo's unwavering love for heavy metal and horror movies has fueled his three-decade-long contribution to the music industry.
In this special interview, Anselmo talks about the (then) upcoming tour in Australia and New Zealand with his band, Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals. With almost 400 interviews under our belts, chatting with an icon like Anselmo, comparable to Ozzy Osbourne, Mick Jagger, or Brian May, is an honour.
Anselmo opens up about the significance of performing Pantera songs as a tribute, especially after the heartbreaking loss of the Abbott brothers. The opportunity to pay homage to his fallen brethren holds deep meaning for Anselmo as he reflects on the impact their deaths have had on him.
Joined by The Illegals, a group of talented musicians who understand the importance of this tribute, Anselmo expresses his admiration for their dedication and how they have honed their skills to deliver the ultimate Pantera experience. Their tight rehearsals and electrifying performances promise to bring a whole new energy to the stage.
Don't miss this unique and insightful interview with Phil Anselmo as we explore his musical journey, the legacy of Pantera, and what fans can expect from his upcoming tour. Join us for an unforgettable conversation with one of heavy metal's most influential figures.

Thank you for the interview with Phil. It was great. But one thing I wanted to ask you, and correct me if I heard it wrong, but did I hear you say that "Rex was a prick"? Maybe I am missing something here, but anytime I have chatted with Rex before he has always been a really cool, chill, awesome down to earth kind of guy in my own personal experience. Maybe you got him on a bad day or something but that hasn't been my personal experience with him. Cheers.

Hey Ian, yeah, he wasn't pleasant to deal with. He displayed rudeness and showed no interest in discussing Pantera, heavy metal, or the topics he's commonly associated with. Out of all the well-known rock/metal personalities I've interviewed (over 700), he's the only one I wouldn't interview again. It's not just me though, even Chris Akin from CMS can't stand him, and Rex has criticised Mark Ellington (biographer) multiple times, prompting Mark to correct him on Twitter.

@@ScarsandGuitarspodcast that's actually pretty surprising to hear honestly. I have seen a few different interviews with him by other people as well and he never came across that way, imo. Maybe he is a "Jekyll and Hyde" type or a moody kind of person on any random given day, I really can't give a better explanation than that honestly. I really don't know what else to say.

Great interview, but LOC sucked big time. The book and the movie was even worse. I'm not "true evil" in the least, that's a moronic, fake attitude to don. But both book and movie are filled with lies and distortions and the first ones to bash them were the norwegians, Vikernes and Darkthrone especially. Ask yourself why. Rock on.
