The plaintiff hired the defendant to sell hair extensions. She claims the defendant rang up a transaction with a stolen credit card, which cost her thousands of dollars. She’s suing for the cost of the fraudulent transactions. The defendant argues a client used a stolen credit card, so it’s not her fault.

This is why I advise people to lock their credit and debit cards after every transaction and keep them locked until the next one. They should avoid using debit cards directly linked to their bank to prevent their account from being drained by fraud. Instead, it's safer to use credit cards or third-party debit cards like Cash App and Chime, which only allow transactions when there’s enough money in the account. Credit cards are better however because that money is not gone from your account when fraud happens. You won’t be responsible for paying those charges until the investigation is closed.

Worst thief ever! To this day she doesn't realize that by her saying she eventually paid for that purchase with cash, was her admittance of using the stolen card. She thought she was smart enough to pull off the crime, and smart enough to fool the judge. The only way she could have screwed this up any more was to be actually wearing the hair she bought with the stolen credit card. I hope she's good at hair, because her career as a criminal will not be a fruitful one.

Well, the judge did say there were other credit card numbers as well. For all we know, maybe one of the other victims of that credit card theft followed up with the police and got the defendant prosecuted.

Why weren’t the police called? This is felony theft. The way credit card fraud is done is that they initially charge small amounts, and then progress to higher amounts once they realize the card number is valid.

They’re scamming . The defendant knows it. If you checked the card like you said you did then you would have known it was the same card and the names didn’t match. You’re supposed to check IDs for credit cards anyways. Anddd how didn’t the person who got their card stolen not notice ?😅 I noticed when someone used my card almost right away and froze it then called the bank

She probably stole peoples credit cards, there aren't any coworkers. If she didn't steal it then, her and her friends decided to buy hair and then get it refunded. Then resell it.
