As someone who’s dealt with a physical disability since birth as well as some mental health issues I could absolutely relate to what she went through I was bullied for awhile in grade school also;my heart just hurts for Ana and her parents. America's "justice" system is garbage, BUT they DO get it right at times when it comes to cases like these. Not always. But it's always crazy to me how incredibly light places like Canada, the UK, and Australia are on violent crime. Makes me think they're dangerous to live in. They should never be let out. When you're doing this, especially unprovoked, you give up your rights to live in society. They WILL offend again on some level or another.

Kids will be kids & some are lil terrors. Growing up we knew many kids: some shy, friendly, bullies, juvenile delinquents, criminals, yes. But where were the parents?! Borh of my parents worked alternating days & nights & we were never left alone & w babysitters I can count on one hand. They were always there for us & our friends watching over us like hawks! Nobody fked w us bc they knew my Dad would fk them up good & they'd never be found even in seances! Friends came over to our house rarely ever allowed to anyone's house. Period. No shenanigans. Why did her "father" allow his 14 yr old daughter to just leave the house w anyone much less a boy even knowing that she had no friends & w/o asking where the fk they're going?! At least her Mom was more on the ball yet fruitlessly. I know that when I went "missing" ( I escaped bc wanted to spend the night/wkend at a friend's house) my parents called the police w/i the hr, reported me gone, told them where I was & had them escort me home w/i 2hrs! My parents didn't mess @ when it came to their kids even w their own jobs, problems, or vices. If that lil girl is dead I put the full responsibility on the parents... the father was home when she just left w some boy?! We never dared doing that & our parents would have never allowed it! If her parents had called police asap mb they could have saved her. My father would have made those boys talk! That shit would not have happened in our home. PARENTS! WATCH, GUARD, & DISCIPLINE YR CHILDREN! YOU ARE THEIR FRONTLINE (OF DEFENSE) & THE BUCK STOPS W. YOU!!!

I'm a conspicuous foreigner living in a country in which it's rare to see people my race, even rarer women my race, so people usually refuse to sit next to me on the train and in other places, and sometimes I think, as a fan of true crime, how they act like I'm inherently harmful based on appearance, but who knows how many people they moved to sit next to were actually bad people or if the movers were bad people themselves. It's one reason why it annoys me when someone says a criminal/killer/etc. doesn't look like a criminal/killer/etc. What is a criminal/killer/etc. *supposed* to look like, then? I can imagine what the answer would be.

The one thing I passionately hate with every bone in my body are bullies. Why are we STILL hearing about bullying? More people need to step up to protect these vulnerable children and end this type of abuse. Schools need to pay closer attention and the consequences need to be severe. I’ve taught my 13 yr old son to speak up to help put an end to bullying if he sees it or to run & get a teacher ASAP. When he was in Grade 6, there was a new kid in his split Gr. 6/7 class. A group of 4 other Gr. 7 students weren’t nice to this new kid; one recess, the group took his jacket and hid it up in a tree. My son saw this happen and watched the new kid become confused when he couldn’t find his coat. My son immediately went out to the tree and grabbed this kid’s coat to stop the harassment. He told the group of 4 “Real cool guys” and gave Austin his coat back. My son didn’t think twice about stepping up. We need MORE people like my son 😊 and more parents to encourage their children to actively stop bullying when they see it.

Because people don’t understand that the core of all bullying issues, begin with the parents/guardians of those children. Those kids who DO the bullying, have even lower self esteem than the sweet kids they attempt to destroy. Nobody is facing this issue correctly.

This is one reason why bullying is such a terrible thing to do to another person, because it not only demolishes the victim's self-esteem, it turns them into something worthless in the eyes of their peers. Her classmates targeted her to inflict emotional pain, and I believe that was part of the reason Boy A felt like he had the right to treat her as if her life had no value. Ana was a gentle and trusting soul. I have no idea how her parents will ever come to terms with the depraved betrayal and brutal murder of their beautiful daughter.

What kind of craven, inhuman fucked up shit are we teaching boys that any of them can feel entitled to doing something like this to another person, mostly girls and women, especially at this age. These things don't come out of nowhere, and it all comes down to education. Fucking all of it. It's too easy to think so many people are just violent just because. @@twistedseester7684 You're saying a fifteen year old who made a terrible mistake and then serves, say, thirty years in prison is lucky and should not be let out? Wow, that's a very unforgiving take. Males under twenty years of age have now been proven to have great difficulty making sound decisions, and that is compounded when the young person has had a problematic childhood. Most young offenders who have killed go on to have massive remorse for their actions and they wonder what on Earth they were thinking (the answer is, they weren't thinking at all). For them to spend the rest of their life in prison is unreasonable and cruel. Every person makes mistakes. Yes, murder is the most egregious of mistakes but it benefits *nobody* to lock up teenagers forever. It doesn't bring the victim back and it disallows society from getting any worth at all from the life of the offender who is now grown up and remorseful. It also costs enormous amounts of money to house that inmate for the many decades you're talking about. It's totally natural to feel angry at teen murderers but it helps nobody at all to forgo forgiveness (provided they have proven their readiness to live in society) and have them rot in prison for their entire lives for a horrific mistake.

This is the first I’ve heard of this case and sweet Anna. I listen to & look into a lot of cases but this one has truly broken my heart. For Anna for her family. She was such a beautiful young girl had she been given the chance to grow up & gain her self esteem & her voice & she could have went so far! I think this one affects me so much because I too had to have surgery on my rt ear drum as a child. I had to wear ear plugs at swimming class & ear muffs in the winter & they weren’t cool or cute then lol. I got bullied a lot about my ear problems and was an. Incredibly shy & quiet kid. Well I got to grow up and found my voice and became unstoppable. My heart is crying for Anna. RIP sweet girl! 🕊🕊🕊🕊

If people can’t rely on the state to deal out justice they will start handling things on their own. Sadly, it will take them a while to realize criminals are increasingly valued over victims. There are reasons for this. That’s a different issue.

I was also mocked for being adopted. My mom told me about my adoption when I was in 5th grade - the next day I was telling everyone about my being adopted because I thought that it was really awesome that my parents had actually chosen me instead of just having a baby. The neighborhood kids were absolutely relentless saying things like "you don't have real parents" and "you're a bastard child". I grew up in the 1970s, long before any social media stuff, I can't imagine how much that abuse would have affected me if there was. This is such an incredibly sad story. I am adopted and grew up in Ireland.. Back 50 years +, I was taunted for being adopted. Back then, it was not common. I also lived in a community not too far from where Ana was murdered. I left Ireland many years ago for the US. In returning from time-to-time to the country of my birth, I am shocked at the coarsening of the culture there. I would never want to live there again. Poor Ana was never given a chance. I am going to watch part 2, but I assume if the bastards involved got any jail time, they will be out very quickly. Ireland has some of the most liberal sentencing laws in Europe. The Youth Authority failed Ana too IMHO. I hope she is with the angels in heaven. God love her.

I find it crazy that people under the age of sixteen are not named, if they commit a serious crime they should name no matter what, they shouldn’t be given new identities when they come out of prison for the protection of society, I understand if your young you can be rehabilitated, but there’s been so many cases where young people get out out of prison snd go on to commit further crimes.

@@zarkalindait's personal preference really. Others may like the conversational (almost gossipy?) tone but, to me, the subject matter deserves a more somber approach. I turned off after lines like '...left with a massive scar...oh wait no, the scar was actually....' and 'I wouldn't say it was bullying - to be fair, I don't know, I wasn't there'. It's not an opinion piece - just get the facts straight and present them with the seriousness the subject matter deserves. The style of presentation shouldn't be akin to celebrity gossip or a make up tutorial. But, as I said - it's just my preference.

Being adopted myself, I was lucky, as it seems many are affected negatively because of it, but I never was, and wasn't bothered by it. Probably due to the reason being a positive one. That, and regardless of the reason, because of it, you're being selected by your new parents, usually a loving mother and father that, for medical reasons, can't have kids. Instead of being stuck with you, they *chose* you. All the kids that knew or I told also seemed to think it was interesting for whatever reason, so again, I was lucky. Poor Ana, having been made to suffer for something that's a beautiful thing. 😕

@12thDecember 2 жыл бұрын
I have always thought of adopted children as being the lucky ones, if they have a good life with loving parents. Not only do the parents choose them, they often have to jump through a lot of hoops to prove they are worthy of adopting the child. The bond between them is just as strong, if not stronger, than parents with their biological children.
@Sick_Boy
@Sick_Boy 2 жыл бұрын
@@12thDecember Yup, 💯%. The hoops are no joke, for sure. I always tell people when they ask about if I would want to meet my birth mother or not that I wouldn't mind, but it isn't necessary. I'm with my mother now, she just wasn't able to bring me into the world herself. My birth mother was the vessel, but the one who raised me, fed me, clothed me, conforted and believed in me is my mother. Blood has no bearing on that determination.
