But does it still work if there's also a coolant leak?
@Dontlookjustwatch

@@SamKramer no only if it’s a blown head gasket. if your coolant is leaking try your best to identify where it’s coming from hoses, radiator, etc.
@SamKramer

@@Dontlookjustwatch what I'm asking is, can you still detect a head gasket leak through the coolant system if the coolant system is leaking and might not hold the air pressure all the way to the reservoir cap
@samaramorgan8023
@samaramorgan8023 Жыл бұрын
@@SamKramer Depends on the leak imo. The air would leak out of the leak, so the glove wouldn't hold the air. It would be magnitudes easier to just spray soapy water on the hoses and stuff and look for the leaks that way.

For those who may not understand, a head gasket can fail in multiple ways. In this case, the gasket is leaking between a water jacket and the combustion chamber so compression is leaking into the coolant jacket and over pressurizing the cooling system. Every time the failed cylinder(s) undergo the compression stroke the glove blows up :)
