Behind the scenes:
Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to watch this video project. I wanted to organize my resources (my phone camera, finances, Gates Millennium Scholars network, and artistic imagination) to create this video for my family and friends--just to show a snippet of my life since I am so far away from home and other relatives.
Back in college, I took a video editing course and learned how to use Adobe Premiere Pro, but it wasn't until a few years later, now, that I re-visited these skills to produce this project. I am continuously grateful for my education, my supporters, and the people in my life. Being a graduate student can be hard because many of us are away from home and must create a "home away from home" --- often disconnecting from the realities that our loved-ones go through on a daily basis. This video project is an attempt to virtually bridge those two realities again. I hope you can share this sentiment as you watch this video and think about your life and the people you love.
Lastly, I want to give a huge shoutout to my amazingly talented friend, Sherry Yǎqí, who wrote and covered all of the songs in this video. I am always excited when she writes/covers a new song on soundcloud and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for her music.
