As a former high school student at Berkeley High it's interesting to see how different it is being a Cal student. The vibe seems totally different, and it feels like you're experiencing the city in a totally different way. Btw, if you're ever up at 9 on a sunday you can see the BHS Mountain Bike team at the campanile, that's where we meet for practice.

Im a Cal grad from the late 90s early 2000s. This video reminds me (except for the gym parts) of Feb 1998, when it rained 26 days out of 28 or something like that. enjoy some beautiful years of intellectual and psychological growth facilitated by the best faculty in the world, young man. you should study at night too, drink coffee

Make time for exercise at RSF or take a half-unit PE class. It's pass/not pass and helps with your physical and mental health. Also maybe a nice hike around downtown or at Tilden Park

This is definitely cool! I’m surprised I found this now but I’ll be a senior in the fall and I found this really helpful! The entire video was very genuine and felt very personal at that- something to admire with these types of videos. And I’m sure many others would love to see more videos related to this type of content- keep up the good work man!

Wow Berkeley is changed a lot since I was a student there back in 1984 to 1991. Some places in the video are unrecognizable, so many new buildings, not much left from that beautiful romantic campus. Nice video and great idea to make it. I wonder if Cafe Roma is still there, is it?Thank you and good luck with your studies.

Edward Sa Could you talk about your programming experience before Cal and the avg experience of most students in CS, whether you're in CS clubs/organizations, how you study, the attitudes of students in CS (are ppl helpful or do they keep to themselves?), and uncover the truth whether EECS majors really shower or not(lol, I've been on the meme page). I'll be there in the Fall for EECS and just wanna how if I'll have any free time at all to gym, play soccer, join clubs etc.

constant work in close fellowship with other dedicated students, some competetiveness among you as to who can stay up and work the longest, but nothing too crazy. lots of fast meals. lots of long nights with little sleep. but lots of comraderie in soda and evans halls with brilliant young people like yourself

I'd definitely say have a lighter schedule for Fall as transitioning to college (new living situation, making new friends, etc.) takes time to adjust. For CS I'd study a little ahead during the summer, your first CS class's lectures are available on KZfaq, just look up John Denero CS61A!

my personal take: a 13 unit fall semester may not seem worth at first but if you have enough ap units do it becuase it goes a long way in adjusting for freshman year especially if you're taking the ee16a cs61a combo with little prior experience. those courses just eat time.

12 or 13 units. do not underestimate the difficulty of the courses. study a lot. make friends with people you admire. buy at least 3 records at amoeba. stay off the internet

Hey Edward! I was recently admitted to Letters & Sciences at berkeley and am hoping to study computer science. Could you tell me more about the workload? I hear that the first two years are really, really intense and that a lot of people who go in planning to study CS don't meet the GPA requirement to declare. Could you shed some light on how hard the average student has to work to keep up?

Congratz! Workload is reasonable in amount, just don't procrastinate! I can't say how hard you need to work but the workload definitely will be much more than in most high schools. Tests aren't gonna have much freebies (not like AP classes where you just memorize formulas or simple examples) and are logic-intense! For advice, I'd just say make sure you study efficiently and never be shy to ask questions in discussions and go to office hours!
