Discord is usually the go to for specific communities! But also I think patron is a good platform for people who are committed to an activity. I read the book "you're a badass at making money" and she mentions that even if you do stuff for free, a lot of people won't take it seriously - but if you charge like $1 or $5 the person spending the money is committed to this *thing*. It would be cool to have a patreon as the specific structured book club to interact with you, then have a general discord book club for people to access for free and do in their own time. Also I would LOVE to see wardrobe videos - remember in like 2014 when people would upload the inspiration outfit change videos? I think that would be fun to bring back. I just wanna see fun outfit ideas 😅 I'm so glad you're feeling more freedom! 💚💚

Do a built in ikea pax wardrobe hack for your dressing room! That's what i'm planning on and if you have a handy bloke its a fraction of the cost. Lots on instagram of people hacking them to look built in by raising them up and using trim. Can also paint them if use the right kind of primer. Love seeing all the house updates for yours and your dad's. don't know how you do it with kids the disruption, mental load of making so many decisions etc. is a lot and i don't even have kids! totally get the thinking you can do it bit by bit and realising everything is interconnected!

Hi Melanie! My dad has a construction company. Melamine is a really good option, just know that it can chip way easier than wood and that some finishes get fingerprint stains (that are easy to clean). This last part is something my mom doesn’t really like so that’s why I’m mentioning it, it’s sort of like fingerprints on glass. I don’t find it annoying, but I think you won’t have much trouble bc you will be using it on a closet, I wouldn’t recommend it for a kitchen or bathroom ( idk if I’m making any sense). Hope this helps a bit.

In terms of the wardrobe, I love watching women self build wardrobes on TikTok. I’m such an ‘I can do that’ person 😂 I would consider looking at some kind of UV protection film for the Velux in the roof - I’m so paranoid about fading clothes in the light. But I love open wardrobes. We have a makeshift one at the moment and there is also a dust issue with the shoulder of the clothes facing outwards. Probably worsened by our renovations. I am also paranoid about weight bearing of the rails too as I’m a total overloaded, and then there’s never enough quantity of shoe storage. I am obsessed with meticulous storage because I’ve never had it!!
@nimmermehr86
@nimmermehr86 9 ай бұрын
Just one thing to consider with open closets : it is in fact lovely to be able to see all your hanging clothes, however it is a huge pain to keep it dust free as well. Requires constant upkeep to keep the shoulders of blazers etc free of dust. If I'd do it again I'd go with doors in front of the shelving.

Hi Mel, melamine is a pretty common material in most desks, tables, kitchen cupboards, etc in my country! Its super resistant and maybe worth exploring for your closet or any kind of pantry! The only negative i have found from my experience or friend's experience is that humidity can make it warp, though that only happens under serious humidity and abandon tbh. Hope this helps! 💚💚

Happy Birthday to Papa Murphy! Hope he enjoyed his party! That shed is coming along so well! And I am excited for your closet to be done that soon! Wow I mean I know it's been a while but it genuinely is also like so much is coming along at pretty good paces and that is amazing for you all! I would love the idea of a film club! Patreon for that or to help you write more books would well be worth it to me I think! In full transparency though I'm not great with money so subscriptions aren't always my favorite, that also being said, I have supported another KZfaqr who offered specialized content on Patreon in the past, I only stopped because I broke my wrist and had a massive pay cut. I have mostly gotten back to regular money and although I haven't gone back to that creator, it's more because of the specific content that he offered isn't relevant to me currently, whereas movies and books are always up my alley, especially movies!

All things considered I don’t think I could be in a better place, I’m just burned out! As most of us are 😩❤️ But looking at the state of the world I’m extremely grateful that I am safe, I am loved, I have a home and a beautiful family and a stable income, I have my health, my friends - many of whom are having their own babies which is so exciting, I can afford therapy, I really would not dare to complain. I offload to my therapist and talk through lifelong issues but yeah honestly being vulnerable online has brought me so much and has made me feel connected to so many so I’d never take any of it back! 💖 SO glad my vids give you a cosy feeling! 🥹 xxx

First order of business, message to Papa Murphy: 🎉🎂😎 Happy 60th Paul! I hope the year to come is filled with good health, great fun, and enjoying the fruits of your labour in your lovely new home! To Melanie: 💚 watching your videos is one of my favourite ways to unwind, and they feel like a hug. Like catching up with a friend over a cup of tea in front of a cozy fire 🍁🍂🍃. I've got my mum hooked too, and she always gushes over your kids (today while puttering around the kitchen, she was delighted with your daughter's walking and sweet conversations with your son 😊). On a personal note, doing okay, but it's getting into the "crunch time" of the semester (in my 3rd year of a 2nd degree) that I always dread, so anxiety's affecting my sleep. Trying to remind myself to get out and move - if only to hear the crispy leaves and feel the cool air on my face. And your videos are always a treat. A movie club sounds like loads of fun! I dont have Instagram as I tend to keep my social media presence fairly minimal. So while id love to hear your thoughts and comment through KZfaq, honestly do whatever is most manageable and fun for you. Im so pleased to hear about the sucess of your reels, and how much youre enjoying the shorter form content. Whenever youve spoken about films and series you enjoy, I feel such a kinship with you because a love of stories is in my soul. Always such a pleasure to hear about your life, how you're doing, and your home reno projects! 💚

I adore the style of your living room. Sooo cosy, especially this time of year. I'll finally be moving out and renting my own place with my own money this week and watching your home-making, lifestyle content increases my excitement. Even though I have little creative control over the house as a whole (sharing with two others I don't know), it's a chance to start new and design my space as much as possible to reflect my personality, wants, and needs. Today, I bought a duvet and duvet cover for my bed. And I'm excited to try to live minimally because I will have very little space so might as well try to see the plus side of it. P.S. Happy birthday to your dad! I like the idea of a film club and I'm not against you doing it the way that suits you best. I'd prefer free content, but I'm not against patreon in principle

Melamine is pretty common for cupboards in my experience. It’s super useful and affordable, plus it can sort of be used as a whiteboard (although you might get some staining if you don’t erase soon enough) - which could be cool for the kids room. The only issue with it is that once it gets old I’ve seen it sorta separate from the chipboard underneath and look ick. That’s often in old houses with moisture problems. Should be fine for a wardrobe I guess - I usually see it messed up in kitchens and bathrooms.

I think Patreon for a film club would be a great idea! Because it's a completely different thing than putting some of your content behind a paywall, as it would be for a very specific purpose. And if it would help you put time and energy into it as a passion project then all the better, as the people that would subscribe would be on a similar wavelength too!

Everyone could just do the lowest amount and get the same benefits as anyone who might have the disposable income to give more generously. Definitely consider all the monetary possibilities as well as how to go about a Patreon. Also, many belated happy returns to your da! I hope he's doing very well. Earlier in the video, when you showed the castle tower candle holder and I saw all your fantasy books I was thinking that it's a shame that you don't make videos about your more nerdy interests which I share like videogames, fantasy movies, etc. So I would love the film club, dvd collection video and other similar videos! Maybe also a video about the movies you watched and loved the most when you were little.

I love these long vlogs so much. I’d also love videos about movies, maybe the book club could just be a KZfaq format? Don’t like reels in general btw. But glad it’s working for you!

My god i would LOVE a film club. Even on KZfaq, maybe having guests on videos where you talk about a certain film. So far, i have not supported anyone through Patreon, so i don't have much of an opinion on it. Any way you do it itll probably be grand 🥰

I’m gonna answer the movie question first- Love love love that idea!! Brilliant. As someone who adores film, I love talking movies, hearing others talk movies, and sharing. As for where- Im a KZfaq only person. No Facebook, no TikTok, no instagram, and I don’t even know what reels are 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Loved hearing you talk a about the experiment with the babies seeing their mothers face go blank. I was shook when I first saw it. Wasn’t even a mom yet and it struck me. I do the majority of my ‘phone’ time once she’s in bed also. And if I do it while she’s up, I try to have my back to her. I hate her seeing me in my phone. Also, My girl despised riding in the car for the first 8 months of life. It made me dread having to go anywhere. It made me resent all the endless trips to the Pediatrician they insist you go to while they’re infants. I was a mess each and every time. Just remembering those days gives me the shivers. So grateful it’s behind us now. Cottage house looks adorable ❤

Would you consider IKEA for your wardrobe ? And then get it professionally spray painted? Ikeas wardrobe dept are super and they can design it for you in the store. You just need to give them the room measurements

We were going to do this! But it would be so much hassle to custom-alter it to fit around the circuit breakers & wires, the radiator etc, something off the shelf would need to be cut and changed and then there’s the sanding and all that…plus the fact it wouldn’t go to ceiling height…I have seen INCREDIBLE IKEA jobs though! My one attempt at altering IKEA furniture (in my office reno) failed so so hard haha I am scarred 😅😂💖

Happy Birthday to your Dad! Hope he has a lovely day 😊 Really enjoying your vlogs and especially from house to home. I think the film club is a lovely idea, Patreon has a lot of new features that might support this but I also understand wanting to keep content free for all to watch. I use Patreon but personally I have chosen to support multiple people I enjoy watching at a lower rate so it is affordable for me and I can give a little bit towards people I enjoy watching. Obviously usually this means I don’t get all the benefits of higher tiers but I personally am not so bothered as I generally just enjoy watching their content. Unless you did something like Leena Norms where you have access to everything but can have a limit so you never spend more than you can afford. Just some thoughts I hope that’s helpful and I realise that I say this as some who’s never used discord although I hear it can be good but I am just unfamiliar with it and for Instagram although I like it, I find it addictive and try to limit my use of it.

I don‘t currently Support anyone on Patreon, but I would be more than happy to support anything you posted on there and I would looove a movie club!! I also know that Discord is a great place for such things, though, if you wanna keep it free for everyone. But I repeat, I‘d personally be more than happy to support you in a small way :)

Happy Birthday to your dad! I’m ok, just started an Open Uni course (is that available in Ireland?) and I’m still finding the swing of things. Personally I wouldn’t use Patreon but would love to be part of a film club, an Instagram live is a good idea or a Facebook group with lives?
