This tickled me very much, yes yes! Very interesting! I like both the role of the Narrator and the Translator, they make a good team. Please bring back in future videos! I admire your disciplin and that you're actually working from 8-12, I try everyday but I with concentration difficulties I somehow end up doing the "after work fun things" before work lool! (like watching vods and videos yaaay!)

Hi Julian, pleasant video as always! I'd personally love to see more videos about your profession as it seems rather interesting. As a socially awkward uni student, I feel like being able to do some free-lance translating from home as a part time job to rack in some extra cash (since the studiebidrag isn't that much of a montly pay) actually wouldn't be that bad of an idea... Do you know of any practical ways to get some "simpler" or smaller works that wouldn't need much experience or whatnot, sort of some website where people put up requests for translation work that anybody could snag? Something like Fiverr for example, but the other way around (so that the sellers become the buyers in the ads). Again, great video and would love to see and hear more of you and your life/work!

Have been considering Swedish/English translation for some year now but haven't really taken the step towards actually trying it out. Is there any websites that you'd reccomend? Would be nice to have some sort of starting point to get some experience on the side of ones so called normal job. Side note: Any plans on getting back to Japan after having re-ignited the language learning for a while now?

That's actually not much different from my days except I am not working momentarily due to health but workout, go on Duolingo and do a language session in Swedish, Russian, French, Spanish, and German. But the German is a trial for now. Normally, I would be taking online college courses and doing homework late into the evening but my health decided to tank at the moment so, I am taking this semester off to recharge.

7:07 Haha true! I know that for instance, one weird rule in French is that there is a space before adding these ": ; ! ?" Anyway thanks for the video. I've been lost for quite some time now and I'm considering getting into translating, especially from Swedish to French as I've developped some fascination with your language; it's very pretty :) I think it's a smart choice as I've always been a bit fascinated by languages and their different quirks and it seems like a job that would be a good fit for me as I don't handle competition and stress very well! What makes it also attractive is the freedom it seems to provide; I've always been scared of feeling "trapped" in a job. At least, it allows you to do different activities on the side.

I totally understand this!! That's what I'm feeling too. I'm french, and I really love Scandinavian languages (rather Swedish and Danish in fact) and I'm considering becoming a translator, and it would be so much better if I could do it as a freelance. So that I could travel the world!!… 🌍

Thank you gor the great video! I've really been ejoying your channel. Just a quick question: Do you have any kind of ceritfication to work as a freelance translator? I'm asking because in Canada, the only way you can become "certified" or "official" is by essentially having to do these tests to prove your level of knowledge + paying an annual fee to keep your accreditation.

There might be some demand for translating government information and such things into some of the big immigrant languages, such as Arabic, Somali or Ukrainian, but most Swedish translation companies primarily have Swedish as their target language. But there’s no need to work for Swedish companies, just because you live here.

What’s the best path to take? Should I try to get hired by an agency? Or should I search for work on upwork, fiver, and pro z. I’m studying Spanish in college right now and I’d like to know how to maximize my earnings. My dream is to be able to travel around Latin America. You really only need to make 2k usd to feel comfortable. I read the average rate of Spanish is 0.09c a word. And that the average translator can translate 1700 words a day which is like 150$ a day. What’s the best way to maximize earnings?

I have gained a tiny bit of Japanese language understanding from watching way too much anime. I have always wanted to devote time to properly learn it, mainly because I don't think I'll have much need to challenge anyone to a duel.... Or, mock their power level, if I ever get to visit Nippon. I don't really think it's an option for me anymore though, my extra brains kinda make it difficult to retain new knowledge. 😅 But I imagine it would make consuming Japanese Horror movies and video games a tad more terrifying. I guess I should say more terrifying, but I digress. I only have one complaint about the video really.... Blurred workout footage, but no blurred shower footage? Such a disappointment. 🙄😮‍💨 After all the Christmas orgies, I imagined you would have no such scruples regarding modesty. 😂 Love the little window into your day though. ☺️
