Welcome back to another video. Here in this video, we go through the basics on how to do a basic MOT prep on an x2 axle trailer, we go through what to look out for? whats common defects? tyre markings and many more.

Good video, I like how thorough you are on your check. I do the same as you, jack wheels up to check hub bearings and spin tyres etc. You will be surprised at the amount of dealers (and bus companies) I've worked for who don't bother, some standards out there are shocking, all for the sake of profit and time. Your very professional, younger techs need to watch this.

Great video mate, Will you be planning more Trailer uploads on the future? Would be great to see you do the defects on them and your style of working on li f ht faults, changing airbags and Chambers and things that most Trailer fitters would be doing day to day. Keep up the great work 👍

Bit of advise I lift the air bags fully, they hide splits and tears got laughed at for doing it then found 4 bags knackered and grease the Clevis pins please 🤣

Yeah and can sometimes hide air leaks! Haha I did with some spray grease haha I don’t film absolutely everything otherwise video would be way too long 😂

I grease, ratchets, landing legs, turn table if rear steer, clevis pins and S cams etc and internal rails Etc

Good advice Dirk, especially on trailers, as they seem to stretch more than lorries, and can split right at the bottom, plus get stones trapped etc. causing damage.

Out of interest why do you mark the tyre size up even if they don't need replacing/have damage?

We do it for the MOT tester more than anything, makes it easier, just highlight sizes and date on tyre, but can also mark if there’s any damage on the tyre for the tyre fitter too.
