Hey folks, Todays Homestead video is a little bit different. We are getting closer to finishing and closer to what life will be like down here when we do finish. Todays video is a glimpse of what a dream life on the homestead will be like. Up early, breakfast, bit of gardening, bit of feeding the animals. A trip to the ocean to freedive and forage some hand dived scallops, check out some fish and crabs, check up on the bees before wrapping up with the most delicious scallop, black pudding and potato dinner.

It really is. I imagine living in a camper and waking in wonderful places was a different kind of wonderful but sleeping in a caravan for over a year through the worse weather Ireland had to offer was certainly an experience that really makes you appreciate a bed! We clocked -6.5'c last feb i think. We dont have blinds or curtains tho... so thats one plus for the caravan! Some of the biggest scallops I ever saw was right where you are, presumably as its a protected they get to grow massive! Lots of fun to be had down this way... one day when all the projects are done we can properly enoy it ;)

Great video folks. Like food the magic in the formula is hard to put your finger on exactly, but I think it’s the complete lack of pretence. Two straight up characters just living a dream one step at a time. Makes me want to watch the next step too. Nice job guys.

Thanks much appreciated. There is a Dublin KZfaqr that did a series around the world on a motorbike back in 2012ish called Oisin hughes. He is a great inspiration and had a great phrase "finding your own death Star" to blow up. We've all got a life-changing mission in us but few search it out. Glad to see your on your way to yours 😉

@@WestCorkWander I like that phrase. Reference to a Death Star gives it a kind of shameless grandeur to it that just has to raise at least a corner of a grin into the face of adversity.

I think them potatoes are sherved in quinels - spelling may be wrong 😊 I love listening to your accents, my paternal grandfather was from Larne, so holidays were some years on the "green isle" I love it😊

New subscriber! I heard you follow some of my favorites in Portugal and I was in. My grandfather was born in County Cork in 1906! Trying to binge a bunch and as usual-hooked from the Timelapse one. Great job so far for ‘newbies’ to this😂😂😂😂. Love the cooking so much. I’m seeing old recipes from my grandma…my grandfather had to have potatoes every day of his life!!! Do you know how to make all day double boiler rice pudding? I never got grandma’s recipe and she is long gone. Would love to see that!!!

I reckon there is no better happiness than a dog's. They just show it so well. I love scallops. Prawns, yabbies, mussels not so much. My mom always made curried scallops. Yum. I have also just cooked them in butter with a small amount of garlic. Both lovely dishes.

hi there. we in sweden have something similare to black pudding but we call it in sweden " blood pudding " we eat blood pudding in several ways and how it is made really depends on who is doing it but in overall then black pudding and blood pudding is almost the same thing. so if you go to sweden and want black pudding then you should check out a thing called blood pudding. i hope you have wonderful day and find this information useful :)

@@WestCorkWander yes it is very mutch the same, the only thing i can see that is diffrent is the groats ( oatmeal, oat groats, or barley groats ) in black pudding, blood pudding do not have that what i have seen.

Myself and my sisters used to cut out scallops almost every day, they earned a living doing it ,I did the processing and preparation of them for sale , I would not like to count how many we processed hundreds of dozens a day , like you said you can eat them raw as I did all the time with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of black pepper,I still get them now having friends in the fishing trade eat fish at least three or four times a week love the vids ,,,cheers now John from Plymouth

Do snorkel or scuba dive? When I lived in Hawaii I got my scuba certification. We used to go diving at least twice a week. And yes, I agree, I love the ocean.

@@WestCorkWander Scallops and lobster are my fav. I usually cook them together depending on the prices; which are crazy high here on the east coast of Canada. I don't snorkel and most likely never will, so that's out.
