The garden is looking so lovely!! I’m glad that you rehomed the cherry trees Clare😊💚 Framing upstairs is looking good Rob! Another really cool idea would be to put stone window shelves at the bottom of the windows? If they get wet it wouldn’t end up ruining them the way plasterboard would get ruined. 😁 It’s always a pleasure to see you guys! 😘💚💚

It is very important to use a primer paint, on the first coat, not how expensive the primer is, but very necessary to stop the bleeding into the sheetrock.

Rob I would definitely change the blade. We have them like that at work same thing if they get wet and rusty the same thing happens so I just switch it out with another one ☘️☘️

Lovely job Claire with the bedroom and no you can’t beat a good batch of Irish stew with lots of veggies and freshly made homemade bread and gravy. We eat a lot of that over here especially in winter. Keep up wonderful job your both awesome ☘️☘️☘️

Take off the blade and soak it in simple green or a similar heavy duty cleaner for an hour or so . Then get a soft wire or nylon brush and brush off all the rust paying special attention to the teeth area . This should be a big improvement. Also when the board is about 4 or 5 foot through, stick a wooden wedge in the split between the two pieces and when you’re about 8 or 10 ft through, move the wedge back towards the blade again ….rinse and repeat
@andrewmaiden37386 сағат бұрын
Hi Rob. A few saw tips: Firstly one type of blade is not a do everything solution you need a decent Ripping blade (fewer teeth per inch known as TPI) and a higher TPI blade for finer cutting. Secondly put some candle wax on the side of the blade and a little on the Fence. It isn't too difficult to sharpen a dulled blade with a file or even an angle grinder. Great video keep up the fantastic work.

Rob fired up about the candle wax! Thank you for your advice and comment, it all helps so much ☺️

If you eat eggs, save the shells and soak in water. Makes a good fertilizer. Also... for future referance...when I was a kid, my neighbor who was an older lady, used milk on tomatoes.. it really made them grow. Not sure if it was expired/soured milk, but maybe you can look it up.

The way I get rid of aphids on flowering plants is to use Dr Bonners Camping Soap and water. It makes them stuck, then blast them off with water. Camping Soap is biodegradable. On edibles, id use food safe soap. Not sure if you were dealing with slugs before, but for that you can get some ducks 😊
@WestCorkWander7 сағат бұрын
Oh wow, I must look into this soap. Yes we would love some ducks🤩

My Grandfather's favourite crop was young broad beans. Admittedly, he was a bit obsessional about the first crop. Broad beads are aphid magnets. Ants, as we know, will place aphids where best they can "Farm" them in exchange for the aphid "Honeydew" . My Grampy's chosen deterrent was a combo of very soapy water and Derris Dust administered via a hand pump spray device. That and his OCD checking the plants. - Keep going guys - Good vibes from here to there.
@WestCorkWander8 сағат бұрын
Derris dust, I do remember mum talking about this when I was younger, but I do think the best method is being OCD about checking 🙂

Clare, have you tried diatomaceous earth powder. I'm not sure about Ireland, but it works well in Idaho, for a number of garden pests, especially squash bugs and potato beetles. I also use a dish soap solution for aphids, but add a bit of cooking oil for "sticking power". You two are amazing! I love your positive attitude and your ability to learn as you go. Thanks for sharing the process with us. 💖💖💖

Claire, I try using some painter tape or duck tape if something stronger is needed to keep your bedroom dust free around the plastic. Opening some windows to suck the dust out away from the bedroom will help too hopefully, or a fan sucking it out of the area you’re working in. Just a thought! Great watch8ng you both as usual. Blessings for the upcoming week. M.

hi there, there is a few things for the plants you can do that is pretty eco friendly but i will mention 2 things. first is to build like a barrier for the bugs, like a plank or something around the plants second is to plant things that Attract Beneficial Bugs like Ladybugs, hoverflies, parasitic wasps, lacewings and what not. here is a few plants that attract them (i google it so i may be wrong so you will need to look up what plants attract what yourself) there is a few more plants but this is what i found : cosmos, sweet alyssum, dill, yarrow oh btw one thing that could make rob more tired is all the things that is in the room whit rob, rob could try to have a "clean" work area and start whit one room and then make that one good then go to another room that you can "clean" up and then finish that one and so on. hope this helps a little.
@WestCorkWander8 сағат бұрын
Thank you yes I bought sweet alyssum for the tunnel, but that's a great idea to get some others for outside! Yes, I will go up and do a cleanup for Rob, he's not the best at cleaning up and prefers to crack on with the next job. Sometimes this works when short of time, but I agree that sometimes it really help to clean the space before moving on 😊

Floating row covers should help with aphids, cabbage moths. Use earth staples to secure. I cover when I plant. Also, rhubarb are heavy feeders. I use just basic Miracle Grow.

Love hearing all your stories. Do you remember or know of the Wren Boys? As a very young kid, after we moved from Rosebank and before our house in Blackrock, Dublin was ready to move into we stayed with my grandmother, Mum’s mother, in Co.Limerick. I used to be petrified of the Wren Boys when they came to Nana’s shop on St Stephen’s Day. And back in those days they would actually have killed a wren which broke my heart.
@WestCorkWanderКүн бұрын
Absolutely do as Rob's parents are both from Limerick! The wren boys were a big thing in his dad's day! And funny U mention Nana as that's what rob called both his grandmother's. Musta been a Limerick thing 🤣

@@WestCorkWander Mum came from Fedamore. Sadly the shop/house burned to the ground just a few years after it was sold out of the family. So many happy childhood memories there…..picking fuchsia flowers from the hedgerows and sticking them in our ears as earrings, counting the chickens when they were closed in my uncles forge for the night….and never realizing the one mum was preparing for Sun dinner was one we counted the night before….the innocence of children.

I'm not in the habit of re-commenting (I feel like that one from Killinascully) but I heard a great one recently and tried it, as long as you clean as much after the grout process and come back the next day, to tackle that haze look window cleaner is the best thing, to get rid of itt. Clever isn't it. .

Use them as a threshold floor divider between the kitchen and the dining/living. It will tie it all together. It might be too late I did it from the living room to the kitchen and back kitchen but regret not doing into the downstairs toilet where all the downstairs flow went. Other options are window sills or else plant holders/plates on the island or kitchen table......
