Just a normal day of flying for CAC 11. We do work sometimes too.

Cool video; reminds me of my days as a P-3 IFT deployed to Kef. You're riding in style in that new P-8!

I am a retired AWCS, 26 years in P-3Cs as an acoustic operator. I transitioned from P-3As to P-3Cs with VP-5 in 1973 and then transitioned from P-3C baseline to P-3C Update3 in 1985 with VP-40 in Moffet Field, CA. I was the first fleet AWC to qualify on SASP and got yanked to CPW-10 to write lesson plans for its employment. I retired from VP-46 in Whidbey Island in 1998. I ended up with just under 9000 hours in P-3s. I understand the AW rating includes all enlisted aircrew types, not just antisubmarine electronic operators. Must be real galling to those flight engineers that used to call us FAWs!

Stephen Sanchez hey so since you’re retired can you fly SPACE-A🤔❓
@joeirion5113 жыл бұрын
@@ObamaFromKenya Not him, but also retired. Yes, SPACE-A is available to retirees. Granted, space has to be available though and the flight coming back can be a trick.

Radioman in P-3A and P2V aircraft. IFT in P-3C. Aircrew 19 out of 21 years. The P-8 looks like a very good ride. I appreciated the video very much. (The music sucked tho) I am very impressed with the your new aircraft and survival gear. I would enjoy more P-8 videos. Thank You. I Subscribed. AVCM Gary L Howe (AW/AC) USN ret.

What's the process from boot camp to qualification?
@MichaelJohnson-ip9sj3 жыл бұрын
Justin Pomo graduate boot camp, attend aircrew school in Pensacola, go to AW A school, attend FASO for SERE and basic acoustics school, finally go to the RAG squadron and get Natops qualified on the aircraft. Takes about 18 to 24 months.

@@owen-nd7om There are many types of AWs(aircrewmen) AWF, AWR, AWS, AWO, and AWV. Your rescue swimmers generally come from the Rs and Ss. Your avionics repair guys are the Vs (getting phased out as a job eventually) Your Fs are loadmasters and a handful of flight engineers. The ones you see here are Os. They specialize in finding and watching bad guys with aircraft sensors. If you want higher quality of life I reccomend Os and Fs, in that order. If you want to do what Os do and jump out of helicopters from time to time, I reccomend Rs. If you want to be a more combat oriented helicopter guy, I reccomend Ss.

@@Enkryption Typical P3 Orion Combat Crew consisted of 3 Pilots, 1 Tactical Commander and 1 Navigator (Officers). 2 Flight Engineers, 1 Inflight Tech, 2 Acoustic Operators and 1 Non-Acoustic Operator (Enlisted) I am sure the jobs are pretty much the same on the Poseidon only on a much bigger scale, i.e. I believe that there are 5 sensor positions on the P8 vs. the 3 on the P3. I'm sure someone could, or maybe not, give you more info than that.
