I looked at 57 houses before buying our home. My husband gave up looking after 6 houses. He left it up to me to find a home for our family. 44 years later I’m still living here. When you find your dream home you will be happy.

Get it. Those animals need all those trees and the pond, shelters and sheds you can't get all that in a new stripped-down place. That is more valuable than the newer house. I love it. ❤️ You can live in your RV and work on the house. We bought 5 acres in between 2 farms and some wetland. Run down house we tore down and replaced. We are moving out of the city. Also, I bought my place not knowing that those 2 farms Im in the middle of was my grandparents farms. Thats how my parents met. They were neighbors. I didn't even know it. Special suprise.

Zoning is crazy here in Florida...I have a nightmare currently with my land in the panhandle...stay out of city limits and subdivisions/hoa.

I am living in a house almost 100 years old. It is on 3/4 acres here in the small town of Hagerman, New Mexico. I grew up in this town and always wanted to live in this house. The house needs work and I cannot do it myself. But, I own it. I have nice neighbors so far. I was raised in this town and have lived in this house for 35 years now.

Here's a big tip for you if you decide to purchase recreational land. I hope you heed this tip. The very first thing that you absolutely need to do is whatever township that you are leaning towards is to get a complete copy of the ordinances that govern thay district and read it from front to back. The biggest mistake people make is they get property and they assume they can do whatever they want and that's not the case. ( Through excitement, people usually do the process backwards ) prime example. I got a buddy who bought 50 acres in Michigan, didn't have a clue about the township ordinances which says that if there's no primary structure on the land then he's only allowed to set up a tent or a camper 14 days out of the year, and he can not even build a garage or have a shed without 1st having a primary structure and that's just an example. There's thousands of nightmare stories out there.

Yes, we are well aware of those situations. That's why we had narrowed it down to the few areas we looked at. As much as we loved Frostproof, the fact that many of the areas that had large plots were being put into HOA's raised a red flag. Arcadia is a farming area that was originally all cattle ranchers and orange groves. Another reason we picked that one is because it already has a house on it which means we can have our RV, add other structures and more.

Praying. Just be careful telling where you are because here in Bradenton area once someone finds a property it can be bought out from under them by outsiders….it happened to us a couple years ago…seller got more $$ “cash” by northern company who is buying up everything they find and we lost out. 🙏

Congrats on the first step to the new 2KK! That is so exciting. Yes, please review the RxSugar products. I use their “syrups”- the plain, maple and chocolate. I use them 1-2x a week and have been using them for years and love them. I just started using the Pancake syrup flavor and I like it. Have not tried their dried products or bars. Looking forward to seeing what you think. I do add their chocolate syrup to my coffee sometimes and love it. Not overly sweet.

Whoo Hoo, Congrats on your purchase of the land! Lots of changes coming, but you will get it done with a lot of planning and prayer. You are right, new manufactured homes are very expensive, though not as expensive as a new stick built house. So renovation will work for what you want to do. Looking forward to seeing your floor plan and Rachel shopping at all the thrift stores and Habitat for Humanity stores to look for parts you will need for your new home. Oh, and I want to hear about the RX Products. I have used some of their stuff but not the bars and allulose packets.

Yay Arcadia. Loved it there but after that last flood and the one in 2017, we would never go back. We’re currently in Lorida, and love it here. It’s definitely much like Arcadia and the people are SO NICE. And no floods

I'm very happy that you chose the first property. Not only did I like the central siting of the house (away from the perimeter,) but all the bones felt in the right place, including the quality of the grass for grazing purposes. The other properties seemed much more dry & sparing of pasturage. A builder friend told us we always want to try to buy a property with the house infrastructure already in place as it will save both time & money & you can camp out comfortably while arranging the rest. I've also heard it said when buying real estate, to spend a little more than you want to, to be fully satisfied later. Much good luck with everything before you! I'm sure it will be a fantastic outcome!

So happy for you! 🥳I agree with you that renovating the current home is the best way to go. It is SO much more economical. Also, (something I've learned the hard way) make sure to avoid heavy equipment around your well, septic and leach field because it could cause damage or destroy the existing structures. ($$$ to replace) We had trees removed and the trucks drove over our leach field. We had to replace it. 😵‍💫
