I moved to Ireland for 3 years and while it's been an amazing experience, I can't wait to get back to California and the South Bay. So many little things I would have never truly appreciated until I lived abroad :) Simply having a blue sky is something to be appreciated.

Hello, Michael, thanks for another uplifting video. I love the vibe. I really miss the sun. I am from Europe and winters are grey, harsh and days are too short. Can you make a video about some different parts of LA that are good to live in? E.g. Woodland Hills... Thanks. 😊 Mia

In the 60's - 80's. The southbay cities encapsulated what I think you liked about San Diego. It fit the laid back surfer dude atmosphere. It went against pretentiousness of what is West Los Angeles "Hollywood." Growing up, everyone wore shorts year round. Most were children of aerospace industry parents during the cold war. Even though it was LA County there were personalities and stereotypes to different sectors of the county. Just like what you would consider the section to LA "Valley Girl" originated. Returning to Los Angeles after 30 years. To take care of elder parent. I'd say the southbay has definitely changed. It's become a lot of Chinese wealthy new home owners, Arabs that show little skin for living in a beach community. I do miss the old southbay!

As a 18 yo right now living in North Redondo Beach, I 100% agree. Living in these cities 20-30 years ago however looked like quite the time haha.

I live in the San Fernando Valley. Sorry, no beach here. I'm surprised your video doesn't include all the huge waves we have been getting lately. I've seen them on the news and they look amazing. Come to the valley sometime. You may enjoy a walk around Balboa Lake and the Japanese Garden. There is a bike path around Balboa Park which might be nice for your skateboard. Thanks for the amazing videos. It's nice to see how those on the other side of the hill get by.

I need to come to Cali as soon as I can, sitting here freezing while watching you frolic in the sun. 😅 As per video suggestions: I'd still love to see you riding the tram up to the Getty and taking us along for a stroll around the beautiful garden and architecture up there. 🌵🌳🌺

Good suggestion. I haven't been on the hill west of the 405 for a few yrs now. A city's cultural scene, along with its rec & leisure, is part of what makes it tick too. As for the South Bay, since highrises aren't allowed along the Ca coastline, its beaches lack the residential towers found in areas like Florida. That gives Hermosa or Redondo a different, more laid-back vibe. The weather also affects the look of SoCa's coastline too. I believe the colder coastal climate north of Florida, such as starting around the Carolinas, makes Mediterranean-type landscaping less practical. I didn't realize that certain portions of the Sun Belt sometimes see temperatures get low enough to kill off various plant life. It's in the teens right now in Dallas & will fall to that during nightfall in cities like Atlanta or New Orleans. Some areas north of LA, such as around Calabasas or Hidden Hills, can get very cold too. As for rain, unlike Micheal, I admit I prefer last year to this year. Hey, so sue me. To each his or her own.

@@gridley Thank you for liking my idea and even more for the insight! Wouldn't have thought of Calabasas and Hidden Hills getting so cold. So I suppose Ventura to be similar? LA is just so huge, almost like different climate zones. 😅

Michael! It’s your buddy in SFV! This video is great and lately my bf and I have ventured south to Long Beach a few times! Perhaps Alamitos each area? It’s super cute with separate bike/rollerskae/skateboard path next to walking path. My apologies if you did that video already (and I missed it). I think you’d like that area for a video at least! Cute restaurant Gaucho Beach was good too!

Hey Michael, love your videos! Some places I’d be curious to see you showcase are East Hollywood, Glendale/Pasadena/Burbank, Studio City, and maybe some spot in the central coast like Ventura, SLO, and Pismo Beach

Please make a video of where to stay and what to do near Sofi Stadium in Inglewood. If you go to a concert or event there, what else is relatively close by? A lot of people visit there every year from other parts of the US. It seems like the area around the stadium is pretty run down and there aren’t many (or any?) nice hotels to stay at within walking distance? There’s a few run down motels as far as I can tell and the few hotels don’t have good reviews (such as Sonder Lum). There are some nicer hotels by the airport, but there’s nothing around (except for LAX, right?) I bet a lot of people would watch a video addressing places to stay and what to see in a conjunction with a Sofi Stadium visit. Thank you for considering!❤

Can you do some videos on the different neighborhoods...like Hancock Park, or Hollywood Hills, or Brentwood, or West Hollywood. Laurel Canyon. Sunset Blvd. area. Maybe some of the parks around the city? Just sharing some thoughts....thanks.

The health risks associated with the oil wells were the final straw for me contemplating moving there. And they're all over LA (I checked the maps.) 😢
