There is also a special rapid train to Otsuki on the Chuo line. From there you get on the Fujikyuko line to Kawaguchiko. It's a bit slower than the Fuji Excursion but only costs 2500 Yen from Shinjuku.

Hello Kenchan! As I'm Thai I think that the pagoda and most places around Kawaguchiko are very famous spots for Thai travelers to see Mt. Fuji. Almost everyone I know that have traveled to Japan visited these spots and they all really love it, some even go back to visit Mt.Fuji and lake Kawaguchi several times! I guess these spots are like must-go places for Thai people other than Tokyo, even so I'm still quite surprised to see that they have Thai language there as well lol. I'm also planning my trip to Japan right now and probably gonna visit all these places in the video as well, thanks to you Kenchan! Just want to let you know that your videos are amazing and they are really helpful for planning my trip in Japan, I love how you explain everything so clearly, includes the area of these places and how to get around as well. It seems the pass is 2600 Yen, so it might be convenient if you stay a night and get around for two days. I found it a little difficult to do a lot in a day as the bus doesn't come frequently. Just for your information, Shimoyoshida to Fujisan station was 230 Yen, bus to Oshino Hakkai 400 Yen, bus to Fujikyu Highland 510 Yen, and train to Kawaguchiko 180 Yen, so it cost total 1320 Yen for the local transportation in addition to the round trip from Tokyo. You can use IC cards such as Pasmo/Suica and Visa touch. I hope it helped.

Yes, you can take their free shuttle bus to Gotemba station which leaves every 15 minutes from near the Gap store. From Gotemba station, you can take JR Gotemba line to Matsuda and change to Odakyu line (non-JR), or go to the last stop called Kozu, and change to JR Tokaido Line. They have a direct limited express train by Odakyu (not JR) to Shinjuku everyday at 12:48, 17:23, but those are the only direct train to Tokyo in the afternoon. Thank you for watching. :)

Hello, you can see Mt.Fuji either from ropeway or one side of Lake Ashinoko. If you like to see the full shape of Fuji, getting out of the Hakone Caldera and go closer would be good. You might be able to go Kawaguchiko in the morning, take bus to Gotemba, change to bus to Hakone and get off at Togendai. Take ropeway and mountain railways back to Tokyo, is possible. Not much time in each place, but you can enjoy various views. Not recommended with suitcase though.

Thank you for this very informative video. I’m hoping to do a day trip from Tokyo with my parents to see my Fuji in early April , but I’m worried that we’ll miss a chance to get glimpse of the mountain. I’ve read that morning is the best time to get a chance to see her, so would you recommend we stay a night before? I’m also quite happy to wake up super early in the morning to get in the earliest express bus from shinjiku but with it being peak season, I’m also worried about not getting the ticket for the time I want.

Hi Kenchan, Great video, very informative and fun. We’re planning a trip to Mt Fuji around the end of Dec this year. I didn’t know there’s an option of bus, and now I’m thinking about returning to Tokyo by bus, but a bit worried about traffic during this time of the year. Do you think it might be a problem for us?

There is always traffic going into Tokyo, so if you are on tight schedule, for example having some reservation that night, bus isn't recommended. Traffic and weather are really unpredictable. Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great trip!

Hello Kenchan! Congratulations for your videos. I just discovered your channel, and I am already subscribed to the channel. I didn't understand the part of paying to see the ponds in Oshino Hakkai. Do we have to pay to just see or walk around the ponds? And another question: can I use Suica cards in the trains and buses around kawaguchiko? like the train from shimoyoshida to fuji, or to kawaguchiko station? Thank you very very much.

Hello Mairicio san, thank you so much for subscribing! As for Oshino Hakkai, most of the ponds are by the village streets, so no charge. Only a few ponds are inside the garden which cost 300 yen to enter. Yes, you can use Suica on the buses and trains. I hope you enjoy your trip. :)

@tokyokenchan

Thank you for watching. If you take Fuji Excursion, it's direct to Shimoyoshida. If you take regular Chuo line or other limited express such Kaiji or Azusa, you need to change at Otsuki to Fujikyu line. Fuji Exxursion is only 3 cars, and all other cars get separated and goes different direction from Otsuki.

Thanks for the great video. I'm planning for similar trip and I'm aware of the Chuo EXPWY Shimoyoshida bus stop for Chureito Pagoda. However, I'm concerned about the walking distance from this bus stop to the pagoda which seems to be much further than the Shimoyoshida train station. Since you have walked before, just wanted to know if you will recommend to go to Kawaguchiko station and take the train to Shimoyoshida station for Chureito?

Hi. As you see on the map at 5:09. It's 900 meters from the bus stop to the entrance. About 5-10 minutes more walk for the bus stop. It depends on the physical condition, but it's nothing comparing with going up the stairs of Chureito. But it's just my thought. :)

So instead I book to Shinjuko to Otsuki via Azusa then I will take Fujikyu railway. But going back to Shinjuku I read somewhere that sometimes there's no local train available, if this happen can we ride to Fuji Excursion up to Otsuki (standing) then Azusa Shinjuku to Otsuki via Azusa (so we can seat) ? Also, which side of the train seat should we choose to see Mt. Fuji is ? Thank you.

Hi, here is the time line from my photo history. I took bus at Shinjuku 7:45 and I was at Shimo Yoshida bus stop at 9:30, arrived at the top of the Chureito 9:55, stayed there 20 min. Took 10:41 train from Fujikyu Shimoyoshida to Fujisan station. Arrived Oshino Hakkai at 11:22 stayed there for one hour, to 11:20 bus to Fujikyu. Stayed at Fujikyu 12:52 - 13:54 Arrived at Kawaguchiko station at 13:57. I took 15:03 Fuji Excursion back to Shinjuku.So I had about 1 hour at Kawaguchiko. I just searched the website for the bus tickets from Shinjuku but it's already full in the time range that I wanted to go, any chance I can still purchase the tickets directly at the counter? The Limited Express Train is a little too expensive - but I guess it'd be my alternative - do I have to purchase in advance also, does it run full quickly like the buses?

The bus is full when it’s full online, but there are possibility some cancellations come up at 0:00 of the departure date. If you go to Kawaguchiko directly, you can check buses from Tokyo station and Shibuya too. If all buses are full online, you can try the bus in the morning at the counter at Shinjuku Bus Terminal just in case, and go down to JR station and take local train. I think Fuji excursion has higher chance of being full.
