Jamaican patios is one of the most popular English-based creole languages spoken in the Caribbean. Despite receiving a lot of global recognition, it is yet to be an official language in Jamaica. In this video, I speak with Dr. Tamirand , (the Deputy Dean Faculty of Education & Humanities at the University of Guyana) about the misconceptions and challenges the language faces in being an official language. We also dive into some difference between Jamaican patois and English based on grammar, tense structure and more.
