We all love Disney theme parks, but they can be creepy and outright weird sometimes. After all, Mickey is hiding many dark secrets and there is a plethora of spooky urban legends surrounding the parks and some of them are actually true. So, today we will look at some of the weirdest and creepiest stories Disneyland and Disney world have to offer. Put on your nostalgia or Disney adult glasses, because no childhood memory or Disney magic moment is safe. We’ll dive deep into mind manipulation, Micky’s hidden (real) skeletons, wacky self-governing city stories, recent drama, and strange controversies that the parks don’t want you to know. Oh, and we’ll also talk about the backrooms for ultimate creeps. Buckle up and enjoy!

On the topic of missing children, when I went to Disneyland in 2002, I was 11 years old & one of the nights, we were shuffling out of the park as it was closing with the massive horde of people also trying to get out so I ended up separated from my group. Almost immediately, a cast member found me & brought me over to where there were some other missing kids & I was not allowed to leave until my mom came back & found me, I was the last one to be picked up & we ended up missing the last shuttle to our hotel because of it so we had to catch a different shuttle & walk a longer distance. Since this was 2002, the security was probably different but I wouldn't be surprised if they saw me & walkie talkie staff to grab missing children to keep them safe.

I use to work in Animal Kingdom. Staff is trained to spot missing children and not to let them leave the area they found them. That's most likely where the parents will search for them. I lost my son once because Ariel (little mermaid) kissed him on the cheek. It was his first kiss he was 11 years old and smitten. Then we walked through a path of bubbles. He got lost in the crowd at the bubbles. He was only missing for a few minutes. Staff reacted immediately when I alerted them. My husband was allowed free admission because I called him at his work. No one but my husband was allowed in or out the gate during the 30 or so minutes he was gone. We lived in the area. We had visited the parks many times. I eventually went to work for them an am now happily retired.

@@Jane-Doe.1126 DAK Pack! The one time I dealt with a lost child on the clock, the kid walked right up to me at my outdoor merch stand and told me he was lost, and told me his mom's phone number. I used the phone at my stand and started dialing. Halfway though it ringing, the mom comes walking down the path and sees the kid. I told Mom he was safe and a very responsible child! I took a urban planning class in college, and we had an lesson on “the city of the future”. Also it really weird to think, Disney has a gated residence; while also not paying there CMs livable wages and cutting a large portion of them around the pandemic. A lot of the things that are described as “creepy” here could also be interpreted as creative use of themed entertainment using all five senses to take immersive entertainment to another level. I personally don’t think it’s creepy to understand how these things work behind the scenes.

I have a memory going along with the notion of cast members going above and beyond. When I was younger my family and I went to Walt Disney World and along our trip I collected my fair share of plushies. One was a big Minnie mouse plush in a casual early 2000's fit that my dad bought me. We came back to our on-site hotel one day to find Minnie missing! We looked all over our room and she was nowhere to be found. That's until my Dad left the room only to see Minnie laying in the curtains like a hammock in the window! It was so cute!

I was an Imagineer in the Los Angeles area for many years, here’s a few tidbits of info for you- There are no underground tunnels at Disneyland, I think you said all the parks have them. Backstage areas at ground level are used for everything by employees. Club 33 isn’t satanic, ha, just overly exclusive. One can get in if invited by a high level exec, that’s generally the only way the public can eat there. It’s not a reservation thing. A local entertainer I know got extremely sick from shrimp he ate there, though, so kind of devilish! I’ve been inside of Walt’s office on Main St, it’s still mostly kept the way he had it decor wise. He wanted an office there to be close to the construction and design of things. He would also sleep on a cot alongside the bank of Pirates during construction, long hours & he wanted to be there early the next day. The Tree of Life in WDW isn’t a real tree, it’s sculpted fiberglass and some other materials. Forced Perspective is constantly used in filmmaking & animation, so this is something Walt wanted to bring to the parks that he knew from his films. Interestingly, now that the company can buy far larger parcels of land, as in Shanghai, the castle and attractions are much larger now. Also, Imagineering has few to none great creatives anymore without Joe Rohde. California Adventure was sort of a last resort plan after a Disney water park was rejected for a Bay Area in South Los Angeles. And budgets were greatly cut in planning and construction so the park felt bare and not magical for years. It was John Lasseter, who briefly headed Imagineering creatively, that came up with the overlay concept of late 1920’s when Walt arrived in Los Angeles to revive California Adventure. A bit thin still but the concept helped improve the park.

1. Imagine this, you desperately want to go to Disney land as a kid, it takes a while to convince your Disney hating parents, But eventually, they agree. You beg your parents for a plushie , but your parents couldn't afford it, so they try to shoplift the plushie. They eventually get caught, and taken to Disney jail, with Disney music on loop, Disney decals, and Mickey Mouse.

On the missing children topic, my mom knows someone that had both of their kids kidnapped inside the parks and never to be found. It happened around the late 2000's, the woman and her husband took their oldest daughter who was around 5 and their baby that was not more than a year old to the parks, the oldest got lost and both started to desperate, on that moment a random lady aproached my moms friend to ask her if she needed help bc she looked obviously distressed, she told her what happened and the lady offered to look after her youngest so she and her husband could go and look for their oldest, they agreed and after not finding her they realized the woman plan, they looked for her but never found her or their daughters. We are from south america and at the time, knowing english or a second language was extremely rare so when they looked for help it was almost impossible due to the language limit, plus their visa was ending soon, so they had to go home alone. She told her this story when she found out we were going to Disney on 2015, so it was not the most relaxed trip for my mom.

It's a Small World playing on repeat because you went to Disney Jail should be classified as psychological torture... fitting for a creepypasta honestly. Even as a little kid going to Florida with my grandma towards the end of the school year I always got an odd feeling in amusement parks in general, Disney was just the largest one. doesn't help that at one of the MGM sections I was just tall enough to ride The Mummy roller coaster that goes backwards after the ceiling catches fire so my uncle forced me into it despite me being visibly scared of it, but even at places like Six Flags when I was in school I just tried to stick to the arcades they had because it just felt safer. probably because I watched Final Destination 3 when I was 8 now that I ramble in a comments section thinking about it

Thinking about how when my family went to Disneyworld in 2008 when I was 7/8, and I got distracted by fun fancy toys right before fantasia, and I vaguely remember being given a toy if I stayed in a specific area while my parents came to find me. Either the vendor was just watching out for me or it was some weird protocol, idk. still weird to think about, though

i think its important to note also that walt disney was affiliated with the american nazi party and that any sort of " futuristic city " from him is instantly sketchy to me

Epcot/Progress City is quite an interesting and futuristic concept, it would've been interesting to see how it would've worked if Walt had lived. There's a channel called Defunctland that made a video about it, it's one of their best in my opinion
@plushiepath
@plushiepath Жыл бұрын
Defunctland is amazing! And yeah honestly, it would have been cool to see it. Some of the stranger parts of it might have been different or adapted by Walt. I liked how he wasn't opposed to changes in the parks, so EPCOT's evolution could have been extremely interesting!

man i knew instantly the skeleton thing would be in here. it’s not true, i know every internet article you find says it is, but it’s not. there were never real skeletons on the ride, i’m sorry to say. the original claim came from a book about the pirates of the caribbean movies from the early 2000s, someone in it made up a story about how real the skeletons on the ride looked that they were probably real. it’s a completely unfounded claim that has no evidence supporting it from before that book or from anyone who worked on building the attraction. also i promise club 33 is just a fancy place to eat for rich people and the utilidoors at MK are a great way to avoid guest traffic. i thank you for not exploiting deaths in the parks, other videos of the same manor tend to talk about these real victims as part of the “creepy urban legend” stuff and it’s always insensitive. i also thank you for making it clear that most of these stories are myths or exaggerated
