Hannah and Brandon started their own nonprofit called Growing Inclusivity. They are currently fundraising to build an inclusive playground + garden at gofund.me/61ceca81 . I just gave a thousand bucks and if you are interested you can consider contributing 5 dollars at the link above. Many people contributing this small amount will allow them to create an accessible space for both disabled and nondisabled people. Thank you!

I love that they adopted older kids from foster care. so many ppl will only adopt newborns, but there are so many older children who still desperately need a family. Hannah seems like a very empathetic parent who fosters the ability to have very open lines of communication, which is so important. their family is so cute 🥰

I must emphasize how much newborns are desired over older children. I was listening to an adoption lawyer discuss her agencies caseload. She admitted that babies are treated like commodities. Especially white, healthy, non-addicted babies. On the totem pole of human value, an already insane concept, infants are incredibly high, much higher than the distance between unhealthy, nonwhite infants and toddler-adolescent children. It’s so insane that people have been regularly scammed out of “buying” a baby because they’re so desperate and “supply” is so low. Anyway, welcome to hell.

Same! in my early 20s I met a woman who just, well, she just asked a lot of questions. Anything she didn't understand or wanted to know more about she was so not afraid to ask. At first I was in awe but after spending a few days with her I realized how smart all that asking was making her. I guess part of me always feared seeming like I wasn't smart just because I didn't know something, when in reality, asking questions about what's around us is how we learn. Ever since I met that woman, I view people who ask a lot of questions as being very smart (if only I had seen that for myself growing up lol)

@Kristy Stone Good for you being on it. My parents and family had no idea about anxiety. I developed ulcers in seventh grade and became too thin, but looking back in it, those who tried their best are who I try to emulate. With focus, channeling and recognizing anxiety can become a seemingly positive attribute at times, but I spent years examining context, history, and a bit of philosophy when it comes to the world of business, and was honestly surprised at how many people felt like me. Thank you for your comment. I can only imagine you have your own compendium of how to get through life through the simple pleasures given, realizing the key to life is happiness; but the trick is we must create it, not take it.

It's really refreshing to hear a couple talk about how they actually put a lot of thought into family planning. So many people pop out kids because "it's just what you do" and don't really think about what it means to bring a whole new person into the world. Hannah actually asked questions about what pregnancy would be like with her disability, and decided it wasn't for her, and she wanted to become a mother in a different way. I think that's really commendable

Being a child who was adopted, this warms my heart. The fact that the mother has a disability doesn't really change the dynamic of the story. Two people fell in love and decided to not chance harming thr mother or a baby and still opened their heart to raising children who just wanted to be loved. And that's exactly what they are experiencing. It's obvious and so uplifting!! Thanks for always sharing. I've truly decided that after going thru a divorce and leaving television for the sake of finances and stumbled upon KZfaq, was not by mistake. The most interesting and talented real people are never met by most as they don't quite meet Hollywood's standards. Loved this family 🥰 I grew up in foster care and was separated from all my siblings so I would say that you are both super parents for keeping them together, and loving , protecting and mentoring them! Foster kids are not replacement kids, test kids before you beget yourself, and they’re not easy either! You can’t expect perfection because there are a lot of learned behaviors that were cultivated for survival, that need to be modified. The patience and unconditional love it takes to do this makes you both super in my book. Wishing you all health and happiness!

I'm also curious about why girls alare/were less likely to be fostered.

Hi. My mom fostered 2 different teen girls, 15, from neighboring towns, in the early 80's. At this time, and before, teenage pregnancies were rampant and teens were into drinking parties. One of the girls was into lying for no reason and would convince older boys to pick her up at the end of our long country driveway. My mom could not trust the situation around other boys. Perhaps, it seems at that time, husbands and wives may have not wanted to be around a similar situation. Maybe girls are perceived as being emotional and hormonal and harder to handle. I don't feel that is true.

it doesnt shock me at all because this IS a normal family. but really, for others who arent as informed, this can show the truth. disabled people can be amazing parents. it doesnt depend on what you look like, it depends on who you are as a person ❤ i can tell momma bear is tired 🤣 but shes sooooo in love with her man and her beautiful boys :)

It hit me hard when Hannah said people with disabilities can be or do ANYTHING, being a parent included! I am also raising 4 boys and have a disability. But I have always doubted myself if I am a capable enough mother. Especially since I was widowed 10 yrs ago so have to parent solo. I have Autism and ADHD, which doesn’t effect my appearance that much, but it definitely makes life more challenging. Thank you so much for the encouragement and inspiration. Bless you. xx

Weve always said nieces and nephews will be fun but just now come to a conclusion that IF a child comes into our lives it’ll be a blessing when it’s time! This story is more than encouraging for us THANK YOU

I am a single mom of two and caretaker of my parents. For years I have been wanting to adopt but thought I wouldn't be qualified considering we are already a broken family. I don't know why I think that... but it pops up in my head. I have friends that foster/adopt and they are married. This story is awesome. It gives me hope that I can one day add to my family. Not because I think a disabled person adopting is the same as a single mom adopting. But the fact that we are both "not the norm" in the eyes of some people. Thank you for sharing your story, Ms. Hannah

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Hannah for putting your story out there and being an amazing mom. My fiancé and I both have physical and intellectual disabilities that have made pregnancy not an option for us. We have been wanting to foster and adopt for years now, but are worried about the process and how our disabilities will impact the children. You have given me hope that my dreams of being a mother can become a reality. Thank you, and you are beautiful inside and out. :)

I recently started exposing myself to seeing videos about people like this, because I want to fully find understanding and love for these people inside me, my greatest fear is to have a greatly disabled child but this channel is showing me the value of all people in a way that isn't shocking or scary. I appreciate this work, thank you.

I appreciate your openness to express such a difficult thing. I think learning from the parents on here especially about how no matter the disability that there is no diminished capacity for love and connection can help to alleviate that fear. I think it is natural for a parent to want the best life for their child, and I think allowing yourself to grow from this is one of the best ways to ensure their life is happy and full of unconditional love for the person they are.

Thank you Hannah. As an adoptee my heart always swells when I hear stories of people adopting children who need a home. It takes a special person to welcome kids into their home and immediately treat them as they are their own. My parents did the same. Your kids will ALWAYS be thankful for what you've done for them. My birth Mom was involved with drugs and had a lot of issues. My life would've been wildly different - and possibly much shorter - had my parents not adopted and saved me.
