With this video, we are starting an experiment. Instead of one person presenting a certain topic, we will offer various perspectives on a given problem at the same time. We begin with some requests collected on IG and FB. The first of them is about psychoanalytic training.
A conversation between Berlin Psychoanalytic’s Aleksandar Demitrijevic and Jakob Lusensky.
Psychoanalysis should be free! From this motto, we're looking at making the insights of more than a century of psychoanalytic understanding available to everyone and everywhere.

Very interesting, thank you. I am a CBT Counsellor in my late 40s and often wondered about going further to train as a Psychoanalyst.

Thank you for this. Dr. Aleksandar mentioned that psychonalysis today suffers from a brain-drain, and he linked that to economy. Isn't this already a political question? As in, to counter that, perhaps psychoanalysis itself is not enough, but should be rather used politically? A sort of a 'revolution' within psychoanalysis requires a more 'general' revolution, which takes into consideration the political economy(?)

@@BerlinPsychoanalytic may I ask you fallow traditional theory of psychoanalysis which is developed by Freud or you make changes in his original theory. Freud did many mistakes and left many gaps in his theory that's why his therapy techniques are not much effective for the treatment of different psychological disorders. Second thing self analysis is not necessary for training of psychoanalysis, Freud make it is jus myth . I want discuss on it

I am glad that I found your channel . Very informative and straight to the point. Do you guys know a good university in the USA with a basis in psychodynamic therapy? I can’t find anything that provides good curriculum and job opportunities at the same time.

I watched an interview of Dr. Salman Akhtar in which he said that people who can't accept 'no' from an object of unrequited love are empty inside and they don't have much to do in life. Is that true? How can I treat myself because I can neither afford nor have many psychoanalysts at place where I live.

What does it mean they are “empty” inside? I’m thinking it means they lack the love they needed at the earliest stages of their life. Lacking the love and affirmation that accompany the naturally narcissistic state of beginning life, they have a very poorly developed sense of self and usually form a symbiotic identity with their caregiver who they come to perceive as angry, jealous, and vengeful. The parent wants to be worshipped but at the same time don’t want to be bothered with the infant. The infant depends on the parent’s recognition to feel real. In this sense they are empty of a self concept that is stable. They usually suffer from anxious avoidant relationships. They will be drawn to people they will put on a pedestal as the imagined parent. The object of their “love” will always remain unreachable because they could never please their parent.

@@nathanrichardson8402 I see. But can you please help me? Can you advise me about how to not be like this? I've been suffering for a long time. Right now, I am desperate for help but don't know where to go! My career is collapsing as I can't focus on anything else. Nothing seems to be important now. My parents don't get me. My friends are getting away from me. I've been on antidepressants in past.

Hi, Nicolás Lorenzini here. I had a very ugly background at the place where I was. The background belongs to Freud's office (he was a collector of archeological artifacts). A figure called "Gradiva": there's a novel by Jensen about which Freud wrote a literary/psychoanalytic article.

Thank you for the video. I was wondering what kind of backround you have, Nicolas? I have a backround in enviromental engineering and thinking about trainging as a psychoanalysit. Have you heared of anyone from science or enginieering who got into psychoanalytical training?

Even from professional sportpeople. Some institutes will want you to know psychology first, but some will not. Depends basically on your geographical location.
