THANK YOU!! I have said that a couple times. Jane interrupts Ann in every video I've seen of theirs, and puts her arm in front of her face instead of bending down a bit before reaching across. And now Dr Essy that we all love to hear. I wish someone would relay this to her.

I also would have loved to hear the daughter share how she prepared her oats. I love this video! We got to watch a real family interact with each other. Dr. Esselstyn may be a god to us, but at home he is just one of the family they are free to talk over. "A prophet is without honor in his own country." I have oatmeal every morning. I put 1/2 rolled oats in a thermos and then add 1 cup of boiling water from the tea kettle. It's done it about 20 minutes, by then I have taken a shower and gotten dress. I always add 1/2 a banana, and two 1/2 cups of fruit.

I make baked oats once or twice a week. 4 cups rolled oats, 2.5 cups unsweetened applesauce, 2 cups riced cauliflower, 2.5 cups plant milk, 3 cups frozen berries, 3 Tbsp. ground flax meal, 3 Tbsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp. vanilla, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional). Mix it all together, pour into a 9 x 13 baking pan and bake at 400F for 40-50 minutes. Stores well in the fridge, and is just as delicious cold as it is hot.

I couldn't hear your daughter either. How about allowing your father to finish demonstrating his breakfast before asking your daughter to show hers? I love the information presented in these videos, but I feel Jane tends to talk over people (usually Anne or in this case Dr Esselstyn). Why not let them finish talking then continue with whatever information you want to provide? I hope this criticism comes across as constructive and not as negative. I do enjoy the information provided by the Esselstyn family.

I know this is an older video, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted to share the way my daughter has oats for LUNCH everyday. Since she has severe food allergies, I created a "protein cookie" for her school lunch... which consists of pureed veggies (typically beets and carrots and sweet potatoes), pureed mixed beans, oats and a few dairy-free chocolate chips to "sweeten" the deal!

Enjoyed the real part of a family and all the messy dynamics that come with it. It is real life family not actors, even though we may be uncomfortable with it. This is not a 1950s leave it to beaver perspective they are giving us. How wonderful that they have the courage to show it like it is. The strength of the message here is there are all different ways to buy into the challenge of getting healthy and no matter the ph.D, medical degree age or experience, we all can meet the challenge from our own perspective and personal style. Keep at it Jane and Ann. You are refreshingly real.

It is such a TREAT to see the whole family getting their breakfast together! I love the doc. He's always great to watch, but my favorite is Jane as she is always keeping track of everything going on, trying to juggle her attention between who needs what, and who's standing where, to make sure we get the best result as viewers. Love your efforts Jane! What I personally do for my oats, is I pour hot water from the kettle over 1 cup of oats (enough to cover and go about 1/2 inch above the oat line), then I shower, and when I'm ready, they're ready and have absorbed almost all the water. I eyeball some cold oat milk over them, and add whatever fruit I want/have. I LOVE oats with (Ontario) peaches in the summer! Mmmmm!

These videos are terrific. This is what I had for breakfast this morning: The night before, place 1/2 cup organic steel cut oats in a small saucepan, pour in 1 cup water and stir, soak overnight. Next morning drain, cover with water, and simmer until thickened. Place half of the cooked oatmeal in a bowl with 1 ripe banana, mashed, 1 t. pure maple syrup, few chopped walnuts, and generous sprinkle of cinnamon. Save the other half of the cooked oatmeal for tomorrow's breakfast.

May I ask do you have any Dutch oven recipes, suggestions and/or advice? I adore my Dutch oven but have not been able to find many plant based recipes to incorporate into my favorite way of cooking. If you need a challenge girls...here ya go! ♡

They turned me on to non-cooked oats. I’m loving oat groats soaked in water for 12-16 hours, then drained. I keep the soaked oat groats in the fridge, and microwave for a minute in the morning, add blueberries and ground chia seeds, maybe some maple syrup. Yum!

Love this family!! and I love my morning oats. I soak 1 cup of steal cut oats overnight. Next morning I drain them and place in a pot with 3 cups of liquid, ( usually 2cups of water and 1 cup of some nut or oat milk, or even light coconut milk.) I cook them for 15 min. Pour some in a bowl and pack the rest in a container. Each morning I scoop some into a pot, add a liitle more plant milk and warm it up. This amount lasts me 4 days. I add tons of mixed berries, turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, flax seed, and a few nuts. YUM!!!

I understand the comment, but I think the beauty of her videos is the typical chaos of your average family crowding around the kitchen in the morning or throughout the day. I like that the videos aren't stuffy in some high end kitchen. This is just a lovely average family being real. Jane doesn't mean any harm by it. I think they all actually forget that they are on camera. Honestly, people, the world would be a lot better place if people did not criticize every little thing that other people do or say. If you don't like the home style casual nature of the video...move along. If you like it then continue watching. My message to Jane...continue to be yourself. It's obvious that you adore your Mom and Dad. Besides, I'm sure you had to be a take charge person to be a good nurse. That's coming to you from a pharmacist. Always enjoy your content. Keep up the great work....I love the work your Dad has done throughout the years. Wonderful physician and a great man.

I agree with the comments below and have said it before... Jane, we love you... but let other's speak!!! I would much rather watch a longer video than see you interrupt your Mom all the time and now to interrupt your Dad?!?!?!!? Please either let them speak or do your own thing without them. Happy New Year!

I agree!!! Please you should have let your father finishwhat he was saying. I was very interested in that, but unfortunately I couldn't hear what he was saying because you had to have the girl that just entered the room start talking. Very rude to your father and your listeners.

This is absolutely precious! Hands in the oat jar like the rest of us - what a hoot! Jane, I usually have leftovers for breakfast as well. I don’t like eating just oats so use other recipes that contain oats.

Brilliant video Jane, I love the chaos and the way you try to get everyone their slot although I agree a longer video would be fine so we can listen to everyone speak.

By coincidence, I was eating my overnight oats while watching this. 1/3 cup rolled oats 1 tsp chia seeds 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup water 2 tbsn Greek yoghurt 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 2 tspn maple syrup Add fruit of choice - diced strawberries, blueberries, grated apple & cinnamon). Place all in a jar, top with lid and shake well. Leave over night then enjoy topped withmore of the fruit. 😋😋😋

I use the rice cooker every morning for steel cut oats works like a charm. I use boiling water. Then I decided to add a tablespoon of regular oats for more texture. Now I am experimenting with adding oat groats Probably will start with them and add other two types half way through cooking time. Then I top it all with a mixture of frozen berries ,flax seed and chia seed. Fresh grated turmeric and a pinch of black pepper Delicious!!

I loved this. I’m going to be honest, I’m not used to plant perfect so I don’t know if this is allowed. But I sometimes like to add a small amount of peanut butter to my oats and use frozen berries. Seriously, it’s like pb&j oats!
