Just absolutely core touching. I trained in various forms of fighting methods and back in the day I met Ali. He talked and joked with me for about 2 minutes which seemed like 2 years. And when he finished he shook my hand as if I was his blood brother. I couldn’t believe it and to this day it seems like it just happened! Your story reminds me of my experience. There’s a lot of learning in what you have shared and as I look back on my experience it teaches me something knew concerning humility and genuine love towards others every time I think about it.

This just goes to show everyone how great Bruce Lee actually was! Not just an awesome martial artist, but an awesome human!

I must be a silly old man. Here I AM, getting all choked up over this. I went through a form of mild depression when Lee died---but the mix of training, and hanging out with like- minded friends lifted me up and out of it. I CAN not, and WILL not ever forget how Lee's life impacted the healthy life-style I adopted "back then," despite all the peer-pressure to take drugs. Thank you LORD, thank you Mr. Lee!

i dont care if bruce lee was the greatest fighter of all time. i think he didnt get the credits 4 many other things he should deserve. Fighting vs racism, building the first mix racial fighting school, teaching in Universitys. He had so much influence on so many people. he was more than a martial artist. a day in bruce lees life was 10 days worth in everbodys life. he did so many every day.met so many people and changed the world 4ever. hes a legend. he truly is. who thinks about joe lewis now after he died? a few people... ?i mean hes dead now 4 6 years? i mean its crazy. bruce is dead now 4 45 years. its crazy. and everybody cheers at him until today. hes there in that kind of superstar heaven where he belongs. hes bigger than michael jackson,marylin monroe or all the other legends who died. elvis presley is maybe in his kind of superstar fame. and that is what other karate fighters cant accept. a man who is dead 4 more than 45 years is more famous than superstars today. and this not because only he was a good martial artist. he was a remarkable human beeing.fighting 4 his dream, 4 his family. he went through up and downs. he was poor. he was rich. fought his way to the top with hard work. nobody deserved it more than him.sadly he was not long enuogh there to enjoy it. god send him back to heaven.

Your story reminds me of the time I met Carl Palmer of ELP. He was just leaving the rehersal studio headed to do the Arsinio Hall show (yeah it was that long ago). I recognised him and told him how much of an influence ELP had been on my friends and I. I wanted an autograph did not have a pen. Palmer told me to wait and then went all the way back inside the studio to get a pen and paper to give me an autograph. I never met Lee, but it's great when your heroes turn out to be quality people.

You can create great sportsmen or indeed people in many ways and often just giving them a moment of your time is one of them.

If only there were more people like that today. Usually it ends up the greater the person is the more personable they end up being. Not needing to be arrogant and full of themselves. Benny Urquidez is like that with all people. Respect. It's just like the truly wealthy don't need to show off by driving the most expensive car. Warren Buffet. You see him walking down the street you'd never guess he's a billionaire and does a lot of charity.

Super Dan Anderson I was a BIG fan if yours back in the day. I read and read read your book American Freestyle Karate and thought it was one of the most comprehensive books in fighting bar none I personally preferred it over the Tao of JKD. I especially ially loved your approach to footwork as it applied to kicking and used many of your concepts successfully when I sparred

Hey Dan thanks for sharing did you watch Bruce at other events after that, (i'm in NZ) closest thing to meeting Bruce Lee I can say is trained with Brandon Lee's close friend (while on holiday) also an American Chinese like Bruce & Brandon he said Brandon was a great guy not Big headed & teased him about for wanting to marry his sister Shannon & how they hung-out around town etc & Brandon liked that my mate trained Old-school Kung-Fu back in China.

What a difference. Steven Segal was approached by a young man who asked him what’s the meaning of zen and he picked him up and threw him. But the point is Bruce was more then just a great fighter and film star. He was a human being who was constantly growing and appreciating all of life. And that’s a quality we all must do to. Thank you for your story and your open heart.

And overall besides his physical abilities, it was his character and behavior what truly made him an amazing human being. And those are the ones that you truly have to respect.

Bruce Lee was a highly developed spiritual person, didnt need to stay here long but long enough to infulence the WHOLE WORLD-----job done---god does indeed work in mysteries ways!!---------------------He Is of course sorly missed, True Legends always are!!

i have a question for anyone here who was at ed parkers 1967 international karate tournament. Did Vic Moore block any of bruces punches during their demonstration? and did vic moore throw punches at bruce also?? because the only footage we are shown is bruce throwing punches at vic but we dont see any footage of vic throwing punches. we should realize the footage that we see is well edited from start to finish. ....im wondering if there is a reason why that footage is cut/edited ....????
