You hit the nail on the head; the "ocean" is the sea of concert goers and the 3-year old girl who won his heart was Robert's daughter, Carmen. As time went by and this song continued to be in their set list, he would change the lyric to 4 years old. Bonzo could follow the guitar just as easily as the bass and, in fact, Jimmy and Bonzo often used to jam together in studio to practice out various time signatures.

Bro honestly you just need to react to everything Zeppelin put out I guarantee you won't be dissapointed

Zeppelin never misses. It's definitely cool to see how they progressed from album to album. You might want to consider listening to them by each album. It's all good and mostly great. The Ocean is the seas of adoring fans that they play in front of.

Although they’re not known for being a “prog band” The Ocean is an example of them using odd and mixed time signatures (4/4 over 7/8). I would suggest doing one of their epics next: Kashmir Achilles Last Stand In My Time of Dying

The live video for this at Madison Square Garden 1973 is just amazing. So much power, swagger and charisma, it’s ridiculous. This is truly one of the greatest riffs in rock history. Page is just a brilliant master.

They never made a boring song. Not one. Even the most whimsical of them like The Ocean or Living, Loving Maid draw you in. Misty Mountain Hop is another sleeper.

Yes! You got it exactly! The ocean is the massive swaying, breathing, moving, vibing crowd of concert goers at Zeppelin shows. This is straight up classic/hard rock with great vibes, like you said. They even do some do-wop style in the last section. Bonham was a monster because his feel was incredible. He's similar to a jazz or funk drummer in that he can expertly play around with being slightly ahead or behind the beat. This is what gives him just a great groove and chemistry with the others.

First time watching and enjoyed it thoroughly. You spoke of how in 73 they were really hitting it. We in case you don't know, this album "House's of the Holy" is the only Zeppelin album with all original material on it. Every other album has a remake on it. But when Zeppelin remade a song they remade it to be their own. Zeppelin is awesome.

I highly recommend "Kashmir". Any version, I'd say either live from the seventies or 2006 with Jason Bonham behind his father's drum kit.

Plant changes his voice on several songs on this album. Try "Rain Song" and the epic "Over The Hills and Far Away" where he sings both in a lower register. And of course on subsequent albums (like the masterpiece Physical Graffiti) he sings pretty much back in his normal range

Over the hills and tangerine are both good LZ songs.

plant did have some problems with his voice and had surgery but it's more than that. his voice is an instrument, his range is incredible (even after surgery). he can sing at many different octave levels (what ever sound their going for) and nail it every time.

Led Zepplin -wonderful group. Per usual, based on your love of Zepplin, I will suggest checking out Helter Skelter or Hey Bull Dog by the Beatles. Some other suggestions: Oh Well part one - Fleetwood Mac ( the original version of the band)

When Jimmy Page was in Japan , he asked to meet a drummer...Her name is Akane Hiroshi. He had his picture taken with her. She plays drums with Band Maid. She has John Bonham's soul. Jimmy recognised this. Check out their work. I suggest you begin with "Dice".Your world will change.

It wouldn't work without Robert Plant either. His voice is so unique. He can sing the rock/blues very well. Check out, " Since I've Been Loving You" (Live version). I can't imagine anyone else fitting with the band. They were perfection together.

Oh, and if you think this is Zeppelin at their peak, okay, maybe, but you really need to delve into side one of Led Zeppelin IV, obviously, and nearly all of Led Zeppelin II. For prog, you MUST review Achilles' Last Stand, from their Presence album. If you truly want to be blown away by the musicianship of the entire band, Bonham in particular, that's the one. That's also Page's ultimate (and final) tour de force.

I think you should te-start at the beginning. Don’t worry, you will not be disappointed. Led Zeppelin I; “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Dazed and Confused”. Led Zeppelin II; “Whole Lotta Love” and “Lemon Song” really, there is no bad song on II. Third album is mostly acoustic and very tasty but IV is another nice and heavy. Enjoy it all.

The story this song is telling is the crowd being the Ocean, the bands perception of the crowd. Bonzo follows the lead guitar rather then staying with the bass a lot of the time. Not a common thing.
