I don’t can. I’m a terrible gardener. I don’t have children. I am not pregnant. I don’t live in the States. And yet…here I am listening and hanging on to every word Becky says every second day. I hardly watched KZfaq before and now my partner knows to not disturb me when I’m watching ‘My Canning Lady’. Thank you for welcoming all of us into your life and your home and trusting us with your stories. You are appreciated. All the best to you, Josh and Baby Boy Acre xxxx

I just want to throw this out there…becoming a mom for the first time is HARD and SCARY. And I found that I was VERY anxious for the first few months until finally, baby was easier and I felt more experienced. I just wanted to encourage you Becky that if you are at all feeling anything similar to my experience as a first time mom, just know, that it is completely and totally normal. And you just have to ride the rollercoaster in this season to the best of your ability and just KNOW that things will get soooo much easier and better, I promise. In no time, you’ll be back to feeling yourself, but until then, give yourself lots of time. Lots of love!

I have never set my notifications to “on” before. But there’s something about this family. I have four sons. Gave birth to three of them. The fourth was a gift from a woman who couldn’t take care of him. I always tell him his delivery was the easiest. No complications at all. 😛 and I never gained an ounce haha.

I’m not a L&D nurse but as a med/surg/ortho nurse, I agree….no book or professor or lab mannequin can equip a nurse for the job, only experience can !!! Thank God for good and compassionate nurses !!! My birth experience back in the 80’s was not pleasant, more like horrific, maybe that’s partly what gave me so much compassion 🤷🏼‍♀️ When I float up to L&D for a shift, I can clearly see which nurses care about helping a laboring mom and the ones who seem bothered by her needs 😟

They should get canned for that. Our bodies are a product of millions of years of evolution. I'd fire a nurse for that kind of nonsense. The worst are the ones annoyed that some women put intuition first.

My mom was a nurse for 50 years, starting her career in the late 1960s. She was the go-to in our family and so many friends, and members of the community. When I was a kid, we had people come to our house because my mom was their only 'trusted' injector for their shots, or changing dressings, or just advice. Nurses know so much! And like my mom, they aren't as restricted in offering alternatives with tried and true methods and practices.

Thanks for normalizing those scary birth feelings. This is important. My first birth was super scary, traumatic c-section and my baby was hospitalized for over a week. It took me the longest time to talk about my birth story without crying. Three years later I had another baby and it was a beautiful c-section birth. Take care of yourself.
@ElderandOakFarm
@ElderandOakFarm Жыл бұрын
I had a similar experience. Very traumatic experience! I really didn't want to get an epidural, but once I got to about 6 cm & told them I was scared of the pain got worse, I wouldn't be able to take it. (I had back labor & every contraction felt like my back was being crushed in a cardboard baler! & I had been in labor for 40 something hours at this point) I didn't find out until afterward that a LARGE % of the people that give birth in that hospital are told "you need an emergency c-section, your blood pressure is getting too low" & I truly think they are telling g women thos just to be able to rush the process... 😔 I didn't find out until after (from other women) that I could have had them put the needle in, but not give me the epidural medicine right way- I could have asked for it if I was in too much pain. Smh. So anyways, they tell me I had to have an emergency c section (& like 15 minutes before that the doctor had checked me & said I was still only 5cm, so we assumed it be several hours before I delivered, so my husband had left to go get something for me from the house!?! & he had left his cell phone at the hospital, he only had his work phone, which has horrible service & just kept going straight to voicemail, so I was FREAKING OUT, so scared to be cut open all my myself! We got ahold of him in time, though, thankfully! ) Then, the next day, I kept complaining that my stomach was hurting REALLY bad near the Incision-like worse than it had all morning! & they just kept treating me like I was just wanting narcotic pain medicine. "We can't give you anything stronger." I was like thats not what I'm asking for- can you have the doctor look at it, like something is WRONG!?! Come to find out- no one had emptied my frickin CATHETER BAG aince the night before & it was so full it had no where else to go so my bladder & stuff was so full it was making my incision hurt! Yea it was a VERY traumatic experience! I spent hours and hours doing so much research but nothing prepared fine for that! For a long time It really really aggravated me that I didn't know what to do or dlsay or ask to prevent those things, until I finally realized it's not MY fault! THEY are supposed to be the professionals... but it still really bothers me! But I'm thankful to have a beautiful, healthy baby!
@sandrawestley4193
@sandrawestley4193 11 ай бұрын
@@ElderandOakFarmI think often the first can be traumatic, I was just the opposite, they’d left me so long and I really needed a C section, but there wasn’t time to transfer me to a larger hospital, the baby needed to come, but I was badly torn and needed loads of stitches, and what I didn’t realise till later I had to have another operation when my son Was 10 months, because all the back passage muscles had been torn and caused massive haemorrhoids, so the first year after birth was very traumatic. My second birth was much better with no damage, but I was even more frightened going through with the second time after what had gone before.

Aww Honey, have your feelings! EVERY SINGLE ONE of them!~ Both my girls are miracles! I almost lost my first one during delivery, because her heart stopped. (Emergency C-Sect) She is now 42, with 5 kids of her own:) My youngest, I almost lost at 6mo carrying her. I was flat on my back from 6mo on, until delivery. She is now 39 :) She is going through fertility treatments, but she's doing well :) . . We all have our stories. . Just remember, there isn't ANYTHING we wouldn't do for our kids. . All the trials and tribulations that we, as mom's go through, to make sure our babies are born healthy. You done good mama! :) I'm so happy for you and Josh :) And as Lela Eubank says, We love you Becky. . . and we already love that baby too! :)

I've been a labor nurse for 23 years. You had some excellent nurses!!!! Sounds like they all took a class on Spinning Babies which tells me they are very committed and caring nurses. They did all the right things. So glad Baby A is here and doing so well. I remember being shocked by the diaper they gave me and all the spray, ice, etc. LOL The good news is second babies usually come much easier and faster!!! Enjoy this time with Baby A...you'll never get it back. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister in laws second baby came in the elevator at the hospital. We were at her mothers. Her husband followed later. They left together in their own cars. She stopped on the side of the ride. He got in her car and drove her to the hospital. Their third baby took much longer, and their last was quicker. All her babies were small 5 - 6ibs. My husband's family are all very tall and skinny. Not sure if that effected her.

I’m so happy to hear you had wonderful labor nurses and did not feel the need to call your labor coach back. We labor nurses sometimes get a bad reputation; so it warmed my heart to hear that you appreciated their years of experience in the field. I prayed you would have amazing nurses who would bless you with great care. Laboring and delivering these moms and babies is a true labor of love for us. Many of us feel it is a vocation to serve women instead of a job that we clock in for. Congrats on your precious little baby. Waiting to hear about part 2. God Bless!

Becky, I remember delivering my son last October and feeling just like you! When I heard your voice crack I related so much to you and knew I was feeling just the same. I want you to know that the emotions and feelings even 3 weeks after delivery are so so tough and they feel so invalid at the time BUT you wouldn't believe how many people feel the same. Just know that even though many people are glamorizing the process and it makes us question ourselves, whatever you are feeling and going through with your new family and dynamic are valid. Labor seems so primal and scary. I appreciate you sharing your journey for those of us who are very scared to get pregnant and go through labor and delivery. I don't know if it will change my mind necessarily, but you being honest about your anxiety and experiences has helped validate my own anxieties. It's good to know that you can have that fear of the process and still make it through. I hope you are doing better now ❤️

To encourage you- if the Lord allows you to get pregnant - then He WILL bring you through! The anxiety behind pain is always worse than the pain itself. Just like if you have to give yourself an injection, of insulin or something- the injection itself isn't going to hurt more than a cat scratch. But the anxiety and fear behind it amplifies the 'pain'. Knowing that 'pain' during labor and delivery is by design (God allowed women pain in childbirth because of our sin) and that it can very well just be something you have to go through. I've had one c section (unmedicated to 10cm- doctor insisted the c section was necessary though) 11lb baby. And then a vbac home birth with a 10lb 14oz baby. The pain is temporary - that's all I can say. But if you have an amazing SUPPORT team it can almost be fun and so memorable in a way. But This is just my experience! Don't be afraid!!

I had to do this delivery without an epidural so I wanted to stay up on my feet & I'm a makeup artist & have some experience selling hair straighteners so I was doing everyone's makeup & straightening & curling everyone's hair so I'd be busy. I was able to do that up until I was dilated 6 cm & then I had to stop because my knees were buckling. She was just incredible & even when I wanted to quit & get C-section she told me I could do it & I got through it.

Sweet Mama Becky!!!.....Your birth story was filled with Love, support from your husband who gently cared for you along with the nurses, your dula and your doctor and they used their wisdom of labor and delivery procedures to bring about the birth of your little boy who is healthy and strong; your health was monitored closely during the entire process and I appreciate your open conversation about different aspects of after the birth concerning your healing......I know that Part II will contain more content of your birth story and it is a story to be told and I am amazed at your strength as you relay the events. God truly had His Great Physician Hands upon you and Baby Acre little boy and Josh.....

Congratulations, for something so natural it’s is hard, scary and mostly beautiful! My mom also went into an eclampsia, she was 3 days in labour, I was under 6 Ibs. 64 yrs ago. All three of mine were hard labour, epidurals for first two, back labour with my girl 9lbs! I’m 5’2” just started digestible diabetes. I was 22. After the first I got staphylococcal infection in my uterus 1979, it changed my health forever. Endless antibiotics and separation from a week from my newborn baby. Things sound so much better now. I’m so happy it all turned out. Your husband sounds amazing, ready to be a wonderful dad. I remember my husband driving so slow back home with all of our new precious cargo’s. Boy, girl, boy. It’s hard on husbands in a different way, but unites us in our appreciation for each other.❤

I loved hearing your story so far! I remember when I was pregnant with my first one and I would go to my OB for appointments. These ladies who had been down the labor road a few times would tell these horror stories and it scared me so bad! I had a pretty long and intense labor but I wanted it to be natural so I did no pain meds or anything. They kept asking me if I wanted them and I said no way. After about 28 hours I finally delivered and the pushing was no big deal at all. All of my births were two pushes except for baby 5 who was a premie and only took one push. Each labor was different and i did them all natural. My grandma had 16 at home so she was my true inspiration. I am so happy for you that you finally have your precious gift with you at home and you and baby acre have good health and happiness!
