A FOOT of snow! Can the Kubota B2601 handle it? Just add weight!

Can a Kubota B2601 handle a foot of snow? Yep, it can. After the last storm I had trouble pushing snow up my relatively steep driveway so I decided to put on my ballast box to add weight. The result was a definite increase in traction and better overall set up.

I have an LX3310 and the front gets pushed around all the time. Kubota should have a weight alternative for the front with the blade attached. The rear mount snowblower rocks though. That thing can move some snow.

Looks like a nice little setup. Controls look quick without being snappy. Don’t go faster! Slow and steady, fast breaks things.

Good job building the mount. Carry a garage door opener with you open the doors as you plow.

This is very helpful as I prepare my B2601 to plow snow for the first time. I have a similar setup, with a 5' Kubota from blade. I will definitely have my heavy hitch on the rear! The mistake I made was not getting my plow equipped with pistons. Even though I did get a third-function valve for the front! It would have been smart to have that done instead of have to have them haul it back in. I guess I thought I'd save the money and dismount and change the angle. But in practice I know I'll probably just push everything straight. Oh well. Thanks for the ideas.

Congratulations on your plow build. It does a great job. I have a B2301 which is the same size tractor that you have. The area that I see that could stand some improvement in is people buying 2 big of a tractor for their applications. The bigger you go the more it costs in dollars to keep it going. I have quite a few attachments for my tractor including a back hoe. I have yet to come up against a job I couldn’t handle. If I am doing a job that requires more weight I have set my box blade up in a fabrication so that I can add cement blocks to increase the rear weight of the tractor. I can carry up to 8 30 pound blocks.and adding up the weight of the box blade itself, You would be surprised how much better that box blade works in different applications. Take care and stay safe😀

Hey Adam, make yourself a set of front and rear tire chains. You will be able to push all of that snow in 2wd and steer at the same time. If you get in a sticky situation, just put it in 4x4 back up. Check out some my winter videos and you see what it will help you do. Cheers Mitch.

I just had a 30" storm, first time using tire chains on my ck4010, (already had the rear tires filled) having the tire chains was a night and day difference, even backed into a few driveways that were untouched and just went right through all the snow, no problem, I use a 72" tarter pusher w/ a rear blade, I def recommend chains, even just front chains would make a bigger difference (easier to take on and off) recommend Blue Jay industrial corp out of Hayden ID, the front chains on mine are an atv diamond pattern, very good quality at the most fair price I've seen.

I heard chains could be hard on front end but studs are not as bad and provide good traction and steering.

Works well. The plow hangs out too far though. Lots of vids out there on underslung units built.

If you have a stone driveway try some chains on front at least there not expensive helps alot with traction and steering

Are you doing your driveway in the float position?
@adamj8293
@adamj8293 3 жыл бұрын
No I’m not. I built this snow plow using the original chain to allow for ground contour changes. If I had welded the plow frame directly to the mounting plate then I would have to use the float position.

No it was the right thing to do I’d say. 60 inches seems just about right for that size tractor. I’d do the same thing again
