In the scientific field, when someone says they used one of their sensory organs to measure something, we instantly dismiss any results because human sensory organs are not accurate measurement instruments. Yet in the court of law, an "eye witness" is considered sufficient evidence if I'm not mistaken. Just imagine if we made products for human consumption or interaction by simply looking at the volume of ingredients with our eyes or simply guessing at formulations: a lot of people would be dead. Shit is ridiculous 😂🤦

I'm from the UK. I work graveyard shift so I go home on my scooter at 2am. Couple of weeks ago an unmarked police car cuts right across me and does a crazy U turn through a closed petrol (gas) station and emerges and follows me like 20ft from my back wheel. Well I don't like this shit at all (I don't know he's police at this point) so I open the tap and he switches on the blues and pulls me over saying I was doing 45+ in a 30. It's criminal that they can pressure drivers into doing evasive manoeuvres and then pull them over for speeding/dangerous driving etc 😣

This was an illegal stop. This officer should have been disciplined and the charges placed on his record. To stop law enforcement abuse there must be a form of Malpractice Insurance required for all law enforcement officers. After a couple of payouts for abuse, civil rights violations etc... an insurance carrier will eventually drop the officers coverage. No insurance, no employment. No insurance no jumping from one municipality to another. Its a simple fix.
@CasualDandyAkaSqwrty
@CasualDandyAkaSqwrty 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like it would work, but I think it would swing back the other way, to being unfair to the officers. Just last week I was scheduled a court date bc my insurance card was expired and 'dispatch couldn't verify my insurance' even tho it's paid for and current. End result, I show my updated card to the judge, and they drop to large supposed charge and charge me a $25 'court processing charge'. I was incensed. I didn't ask to be there, and a phone call would have sufficed with my insurance company. Anyway, my point is that wherever there are fees and insurance... (which personally, I hate anyway. No one should pay to deal with eventual chaos, being leeched forever until that inevitably happens and, whoops, your policy can't pay for that. I digress.) ...there are chances for corruption. We need a new, better system. Not the same one pointed at the police. Imo.

Those 3 simple behaviors kept me out of trouble and kept me from allegations, abuses of power and basically kept me honest. I know for a fact if you are honest you will not have an issue. If this officer was held accountable, especially monetarily, then im sure he would refrain from this type of behavior. Between Qualified Immunity and municipalities being responsible for lawsuits, it's no wonder why so many bad officers exist.

Any ticket based solely on speed estimation would be very arguable but it's PC to pull you over and sniff for weed and run DL(s) for warrants etc. This kind of stuff yields arrests which propagates this behavior. I don't particularly like it but that's the reality, and it's legal.

@KingCobraJFS it’s because there are actual studies about how these kind of situations are racist. During the day, when cops can see the race of the person in their car, black people are pulled over disproportionately to white people. At night it evens out because cops can’t see the race of the person in the vehicle. Why else would this dude be flashing lights into cars at night? It’s to see if he’s black because he can’t tell. We know he lied about clocking his speed. We know he lied about the light. It’s pretty obvious that this was racial profiling.
@TheJasonmanguy
