If you don't put at least one cast into a tree are you even fishing?

Take lots of extra lures and hooks and weights and...... One time I was wondering why I wasn't getting any bites on my fly rod. Went to change flies, realized I didn't have a fly on anymore. Don't know how long it wasn't there. Lol

@@adamw7158 I've lost full rigs more often than I'd care to admit by the bale arm dropping as I cast, even 50lb braid can't take that kind of dead stop when youre using a 14' rod with 8oz of lead on the end of the line lol. That's why these days, I tend to use a rotten bottom even when fishing clean ground, easier to put on a new lead than a whole new rig. Closest I've come to actually getting it in a tree from the beach is a spot in Wales with overhanging tree lined cliffs, finger slipped off the line early and I cast pretty much straight up in the air, missing a tree by a foot at most with the rig coming down in the breakers, again using braid and heavy leads

Hello Nick, I love your channel!! I am 60 years old and disabled. You take me back to that magical time in my youth when I would load up gear and eagerly set off on a fishing adventure. I began fishing when I was 6 years old and it has always been a deeply spiritual experience. I have fished all over north Georgia and in the Gulf of Mexico. My personal best was a 70+ lb. Amberjack. It was a beast. Please keep making your videos. Id love to see you do some saltwater offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico with Steven from Bama Saltwater. He's a great guy, superb fisherman and you two could kill on some offshore beast hunting. Peace and love to you from Atlanta GA.

Nick! I absolutely love your video's. You have a way of showing the trials and tribulations of fishing not just showing the big ones you catch. Your loving for just fishing is evident in every video. I live in Calgary Alberta and the bow river up here has provided me with hundreds of rainbow trout that will rip the ine out of that presidential reel.. i know i bought one after watching your videos. I would love to see you do a Canadian fresh water tour. Not only to see where but what you catch. I appreciate you and your expertise. Good luck in the future and may your line always be taught☺️

Still dont understand how this man doesnt have 1million subs yet. His videos are smooth, the B roll is spot on along with the music playing over the B-roll. The way he gets hyped when he hooks up.. Love that new Orvis landing net, I have the Fishpond Nomad Mid. My wife laughed at me when I said I bought an almost $200 net, but when the Fedex guy showed up she felt how light it was and nodded in understanding when I had her hold my old woodie vs the carbon fiber. Tight lines!

Carbon fiber, ey? 200 dollars, huh? 🤔 I think I have a couple of old carbon fiber tennis rackets cluttering up my attic. Let me see if I can rig something up... Ought to save me some heartache when I inevitably see it floating down stream, at some point.

Great video. Just a few tips for winter trout fishing. Try fishing deep hole with a small hair jig or pink trout magnet. When the water is low and clear, try approaching from downstream so the fish can’t see you. They face into the current so if you approach them from upstream you will spook them. Lastly, try fishing 2 days after a big rain. High water will move the fish out of their normal zones. They will be in the slower pockets just on the edge of the fast moving current. Tight lines bro.

I have not "yet" had the opportunity to fish the McCloud River. I hear it's Trout are monsters as well. You have to look out for Black Bears while fishing. No threat to humans usually. Putah Creek has Mountain Lions, which are a threat. So you just go into it being prepared.

Beautiful creek there! I live in California. Putah Creek is a local stream I fish. It has Rainbows that grow to 30+ inches long, and weigh up to 10 lbs. I know, I caught a few in that length. It is easier to haul a 10 lb. than a 4 lb. Trout. The smaller they are, the longer it take to tire them using 6x tippit. What a blast though!!
