Simply take up the neckline by slanting a seam tapered to the sleeve at the shoulder. Trim excess. No seam ripping or multiple measurements. I do it all the time.

Если выворачивать изделие через ворот, то он обязательно растянется. Вещи, особенно трикотажные выворачивать надо снизу.

When you turn it inside out you should turn it from the bottom of the sweater, not through the neck hole. No wonder the neck hole was too big, you stretch it out if you keep turning it inside out through the neck hole.
