I’m in a boring ass job right now on a contract with 9 months to go. The discussion about Sisyphus is spot on. I’ve made some great new friends. All of us are veterans and we’re all in it together and we help keep each other upright and supported.

I asked my Father (two tour, Marine Corps Vet, two Purple Hearts) why he thinks the WWII guys seemed to transition home easier than then the guys post 1960... He said that during WWII, they would lay waste to a town and the locals would come out and celebrate that they did it. When all was done in 1945, they still had months of clean up and a long ass boat ride home to talk to friends and come to terms with the atrocities they witnessed... come home to hero's welcome and boisterous fan faire. My Father said he was in a firefight on a Wednesday and landed home on Sunday at Logan airport in Boston. His ears were still ringing and was confronted by assholes calling him a baby killer... He has been still carrying his confusion and trauma for decades. It is just not right!!!

I was once told that people that were in combat don't sit around and talk about being in combat. To ask someone if they've killed, is so inappropriate. Great job guys

My former scout sniper buddy was asked in front of a room full of students by a college professor if he had killed people when he was at an age and time where that is a near certainty. I was pissed when he told me.

Evan Hafer, thank you hoss. I really needed to hear what you said about finding your new purpose at 1:35ish. It's been a decade since big green. But I still miss the purpose, I miss my old tribe, I miss what I can't physically do anymore. I have a family now. I've found good purpose at work before. But I'm still searching for my new tribe. It feels more and more impossible to find people even half as good as the brothers I've lost or moved away from. Just lost my job due to my crazy war vet brain. And I feel more lost than ever lately. But this podcast is helping me. Thank you

I go through cynicism crud everyday. Went through the positivity phase for a bit too. I have to be mindful of not being negative to much. It's a see-saw back and forth mind shift, daily. Guess that part of this episide hit a bit close to home. One thing being deployed did for me was I got to see how the world really is, just how cruel people can get, and the extents they'll go to survive. Good episode btw.

"Most of America had never been afraid before." Ouch. I suffered from an overabundance of caution during COVID but I've also been In dangerous circumstances where I feared for the life of people I was protecting 24/7 for extended periods to the extent I have to warn people not to wake me by grabbing me because if I am having a violent dream I will reflectively try to break their limb or neck before I've even fully woken up. However, I am also a biological scientist who knew this was a lab manufactured virus initially and thus far outside the parameters of previous pandemics who obsessively researched the phenomenon in order to attempt to protect my friends and family. I failed to realize the extent of institutional corruption at every single level of the global bureaucracy. I learned the bitter lesson that I can no longer trust the most prestigious medical institutions I devoted 2 decades of my life to.

The coolest Part of BRCC for me Is where it was Founded,Salt Lake City Utah.I LIVED IN SLC FOR 23 Years before I enlisted out of SLC MEPS,abd i did hear about BRCC in its Freedom Roast Era,And Immediately thought it was fuckin Badass.I was already gonna join But when i discovered more when it was Just Evan,I was Like Oh my god Bad ass people have come from my hometown,And Im going to be just like them Ive been in for 2 years now.And God Bless America and BRCC And The CIA,only thing i consider more badass than SOCOM,When I retire I plan to Apply to BRCC and do SOMETHING🤣 itd be such a high honor to end up back in my hometown working for BRCC,on Holiday Block leave here soon my first Stop is layton BRCC,the LAST PLACE i went to before i left for my hotel To leave to basic.

52:00 i remember like twenty years ago, my twin sister called me i absolute distress... She was all sorts of confused and shaken. She asked me if every boy knows how to make anything into a weapon (she has two boys). I asked her what happened and she said her boys were playing with Legos and... I stopped her and asked, did one grab the block in his fist and bash his brother in the head with the point? She was shocked and asked, "how the fuck did you know what happened?!" 🤣 I just told her that all boys are meant to be future warriors. We have abilities and skills ( and dirty, dirty inklings we were are born with) that cannot, nor SHOULD NOT be stifled. She was shocked as the contrast but raised them since to be Men.

Kennedy was a PT boat commander who had his boat sunk out from under him during the war, survived a week wounded far behind enemy lines with his guys, some of whom he personally pulled out of their gun tubs, unconscious, and swam with one of them held by their shirt in his teeth FOR FOUR HOURS, to save their lives. dude is a war hero, and any other tarnishment upon his record is definitely grievous, but he was in the shit too. he ultimately understood what you fellas went through too, because he was there himself. the argument that he didn't understand the cutting off abruptly of the bay of pigs invasion doesn't hold water because dude is a warrior himself. he's been there.

Respectfully I have a question. Around the 6:08 timeframe you said the government should be providing safety, then at 8:27 timeframe you talk about radical freedom.To me that’s a contradiction. Government as stated in the Constitution is to provide for domestic tranquility,not safety.Radical freedom means the we understand that the world is a dangerous place. How do you reconcile those 2 opposing views? Thank you & God Bless 🙏😇

I think he means that the government should be providing the public municipal functions that our taxes are meant to fund like infrastructure, roads, ems/police/fire, social safety nets and major emergency response along with national DEFENSE… but we should not be beholden to special interests & overseas conflicts that haven’t been publicly agreed upon for the National best interest rather than the best interests of a certain industry or pool of powerful corporate shareholders / investors. Same goes for “regulations to protect us from ourselves” like the failed drug war, failed war on terror, failed “gun control”, unreasonable subsidies funded by the common taxpayer, people who are uninformed should not be making such critically important decisions that affect the actual people so substantially.

@@esk8er900 Unfortunately that’s where we are today, so I’m not disagreeing with a lot of what you’re saying. I would just refer you or anyone else for that matter to Section 8 of the US Constitution, which is clearly not being followed , I.e. no standing armies ,only a navy. We the people should also re read Declaration of Independence,especially the second paragraph beginning with “ We hold these truths to be self evident…..That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it,and to institute new Government,laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its power in such form,as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. @@anthonyforfare7223 likewise I don’t disagree with your points either- however the constitution was designed to be a “living document” in that it wasn’t meant to be literal & absolute so it could adapt to changes in the needs of the country. The idea of no “standing army” is based in the isolationist political mentality of the time as we were very barely stitched together as a nation of states in the years following the revolution. Furthermore it stems from the idea that we must prevent outsiders from invading but not allowing the powers that be the ability to invade from within as the British had with their standing army commandeering or unjustly searching homes/property just because they could. If you recall the constitution was the 2nd attempt at a national regulatory document after the articles of confederation nearly ended in failure, hence the 1st 10 amendments/ “bill of rights” automatically being necessary to even ratify the constitution as the framework of our country. But yes we’ve strayed far from that however I’m grateful to only have 1st world problems so I wish you & yours a happy thanksgiving and holiday season!! (Would you intercept me?? I’d intercept me!! Lol) 🦅

@@esk8er900 I know that you are correct about the second attempt,aka articles of the confederation.i grew up near Washington crossing state park in NJ ,which was considered the crossroads of the revolution ( NJ). 1:08:00 I remember an interview when someone was complaining about the BRCC tumblers (big pressed stainless coffee mugs) not being made in the U.S.A. and you educated the audience that there are NO US based manufacturers of these products, and you don't have half a billion to start that facility. You would obviously LOVE to hire a US based company, but there are none. NO reason to disparage the gear being made in Vietnam. I am quite certain it is all made to the exact specs and criteria the designers intended.

You don’t have to agree with their religion, politics or how the fighters in Afghanistan run their country. The fact is the military might of many nations tried to subdue these people in Afghanistan. In the end, those militaries have been defeated and the bitterness, resentment and ‘holier then thou’ attitude that remains, is expressed as immature, childish, ‘school ground’ threats. Honourable and dignified in defeat. How about America focuses first and foremost on getting their ‘house in order’, hold their ‘elected officials’ accountable for getting their Country into wars, especially on the basis of ‘questionable intelligence’ that is utilized to intentionally deceive the public.

Enjoying a cup of Black. Good brew. Woke up this morning wondering if I should go to the hospital dis morning. Had C2 thru T2 fused posteriorly 3 weeks ago, and yes, its the worst surgical pain you can go thru, woke up this morning to brew my coffee, and broth legs stopped working. Currently sitting in garage drinking coffee contemplating calling 911 lo1 cheers
