Tbh probably significantly more convenient than an actual sitar, which I hear takes hours of tuning for each new song to be played correctly.
@brianwolverton9834
@brianwolverton9834 2 жыл бұрын
nah restringing one is a very tedious process, but retuning isn't so bad... the thing is, it's meant to play in one key. Usually C#. You could do C or D but you won't play in any other keys with it. If you wanted sitar in the key of E, it's not happening unless you totally re-strung it with different string gauges. Indian instruments are almost all set up that way; their traditional classical music doesn't really use functional harmony, everything was just soloing over one droning chord, with all the emphasis on melody and rhythm

Ok so I researched the construction of traditional sitars and found out that they have those tiny strings as well. These are sympathetic strings that you don't play but resonate in harmony with the ones you do play. I like how the designer of this guitar incorporated what gives a sitar its distinct sound.

The body isn't plastic. It's basically hollow the same as other Danelectro guitars, wood, masonite (hardboard), vinyl. The sympathetic strings can be tuned carefully to a scale or chord for sitar drone effects. Pat Matheney has also used one to great effect.

"If you've heard a Sitar sound in a rock song, there's a decent chance it's one of these" my dear friends, may I introduce you to Igorrr? I know they're a bit out there, but you can't not recognise the efforts and talents that Gautier puts into his project, and how good he is at finding musicians that fit the bill perfectly, namely his actual Sitar player Antony Miranda. Also, gotta say it because this is the internet, this is a praise for Igorrr, not a diss to anyone using the sitaritar. Just like many other things, it's one of the tools that are available, you'd be foolish to not consider it among your options if you're looking for a sitar sound.
