He can't. Watch every recording of him after the late 90's. That high note sounds the exactly the same in every performance (yet the lyrics leading to it show variations in his style/range), he hides his face/mouth, and they mask with a lot of reverb. He can't hit that note any longer.

He's in his 50's in this video and he can still hit the high notes, how the heck is he still able to do it over 30 years later. By far the best song out of the 80's. There's a lot I love from Duran Duran and many are big from the 80's but Take on me from A-ha is still the best from the 80's

John Helba He definitely has help (either auto tune, pre-recorded or synthesized) on each chorus. How else do you explain the voice sustaining as he pulls the mic away.

yo creo que la mayor diferencia entre el autotune osea regeton mierdero basura sin talento , a artistas de los 60 70 80 y quizas 90 (quizas no todos pero considero que la gran mayoria) tenian y aun pocos siguen teniendo talento y voz ... sabemos que todo tarde o temprano se va o desaparece (el tiempo no perdona para nadie) pero estos artistas eran eso osea ARTISTAS DE VERDAD Y NO LA PUTA MIERDA DE HOY EN DIA (no todos pero el 95% hoy en dia es una real cloaca mezclada con estiercol)

Es un completo orgullo ver que está música no se pierde en el olvido porque muchas generaciones las escuchan no sólo la de los 80's yo tengo 25 años y me da gusto escucharla al igual que mi madre a ella le encanta ella estuvo en su auge pero la verdad que se nota la calidad y el talento en sí de esta canción

Oh boy This is great! For Morten being like 55 at that time, his voice range is still crazy. After 31 years from the remastering of this song, this still sounds really good. This is up there with Can't Fight This Feeling - REO Speedwagon, White Wedding - Billy Idol, Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears For Fears, and last but not least, Dream On - Aerosmith.

Fui Dj de 1978 até 1990 e essa música foi um dos hinos dos sábados à noite. Quem tava parado, corria pra pista quando tocava Take On Me. Foi muito lindo viver os anos 80, quem viveu sabe. Eu ainda ouço muito.
