Day 4 of the hedge laying diary, work is beginning to take shape. Hedge is looking like a hedgerow. Starting to lay the hedge, it begins to take shape and form a hedgerow allowing light to the base of the hedge, stimulating new growth from the base which it will quickly help the hedgerow to thicken.
Hedge laying work traditionally is practiced through the autumn and winter months so the weather can quite often disrupt any work schedule on any given day, fortunately this days work was not a total write off.
Four days into this hedge laying project and we are starting to make some good progress as the hedgerow forms and take shape. Hedge laying is quite a brutal process on the hedging plants as they are heavily pruned then cut almost all the way through the stem at the base and layered over to form the shape of the hedgerow.
This series of videos is not an instruction to hedge laying nor methods or techniques. This is purely a work diary from the perspective of a hedge layer and the personal experience and task of laying a hedge.
