i cried at the final whistle. i had just come to the end of my 30th season supporting the gills, so this was the perfect ending. gillingham born and bred, so a very proud day being promoted

Brings tears to my eyes. Made the Stoke away game where that Hessenthaler goal gave us all the belief and being at that final was just the best experience ever. I even went to an Oasis gig at Wembley that summer despite not being their hugest fan so I could recreate Thommos winner with my mates and a few plastic cups on the spot he got the winner from (Oasis were playing the other end) before they knocked the stadium down. Wonder what Andy Thomson is doing now? Supersub. Up the Gills

We are in the same division now as we were back then, but it's weird to think how much better they were as a side compared to really what we've got now.

I watched this is in a pub in Denmark with about ten northerners (one of whom was a Wigan supporter). Great day and it sure made up for the City game the year before!

Just think, if Preston go up to the Premier, then every team we have played in the Play-off's before this season would have played in the premiership at some point, the list: Sunderland (1987 Play off's) Swindon (1987 Play offs) Manchester City (1999) Stoke City (2000) Wigan (2000) Doesn't it p*** you off a bit, lol.
