***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Tuesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

That structure can be used for a lot of things: chicken coop; greenhouse; crop protection; dog kennel; etc. Heck, it can also be used as a child's playhouse. 😁. Thanks for sharing!

Using this for a dog kennel 😅
@raynechantel2738
@raynechantel2738 3 жыл бұрын
I commented on this but since you said dog kennel - I am needing a cat-pen as some of my cats need to be cooler in the summer and outside and they can't mix with the other cats outside so thought about hard ware (hardwire) cloth with the panels and then some on the outside ground to keep predators from digging in....Please tell me what you think? I need an affordable, easy build for my cats. Thanks

Cattle panels, if memory serves me right, are 16' by 4 ft, 4 in tall, so the wooden frame could be made an extra foot long if wanted. A few yrs ago, I used 7 panels to make a 30+ foot frame for a quick "greenhouse." (And it's still strong, by the way.)

For those who have predators like raccoons, never use chicken wire. We’ve had predators it holes in chicken wire, pull the chicken heads out, and bite the heads off as a snack. Hardware cloth is the way to go.

I had the same issue although the chicken wire wasn't damaged. I think it was probably a raccoon because they have the most manual dexterity with their hands. Whatever it was though tore the chicken out through the chicken wire in pieces.

The first hoops we made, we did 10 feet wide. The next set, we made 8 feet wide. Here in upstate NY, we learned that the taller, narrower hoops will readily shed snow. The older one does not, and I have to go out with a snow shovel or garden rake (I hold the rake tines up!) and pull the snow off the tarp. Another thing we learned - my husband didn't pay attention to which way the ribs ran, on the cattle panels. You want the ribs that run the long way facing out! At only 8' the panel that runs across the short way will still shed snow, but sometimes it takes longer than the other one.

I built my coop nearly identical to this one. One thing I did differently is to add two support boards, front to back, on the top of the door frame on the inside. It gave a little more front to back stability on the top in the wind and gave me a place to run a light and hang a hook for when I need to feed inside on really rainy, stormy days.

We have had chickens for several years until a fox and others got them all seven in a close time proximity. We have seen several coops I have even considered turning our greenhouse into a chicken coop. We saw a hoop coop but expensive it was. I can make it so will do so. I then will need to build the chicken house with nesting boxes for them. Just another word. We enjoy the fact that you folk are Bible people who trust God and check with Him and are not afraid on your youtube sessions to speak of Him and honor Him. We watch often. Keep at it. I am a 74+ year old retired pastor/teacher who continues to teach as a adjunct in our local Bible college. We served in missions in Brazil, Portugal, Guyana and Saipan so had no retirement. God blessed us with a house (livable but needing repairs) on a little over an acre on which we almost immediately planted fruit trees, grapes, then raspberries, gooseberries, kiwi, strawberries and various cultivated plots as well as boxes I have made. We even bought a Formal cub almost as old as I am which we recently sold. We have seen our Lord provide in various ways for our needs. We enjoy watching your youtube because you too are not afraid to seek HIS face for wisdom.

iMHO this is the best HowtoBuildAHoopCoop video I have watched. I watch and watch and watch so I can write down the items used. Thank you for the CC. The only thing I would like is no music. I mute until I see one of you look at the camera to know when to unmute and listen.

At beginning leave board 7 1/2 ft. No need to cut and waste 6 inches of panel and wood. Needed a quick easy coop and this is great.
