This video was very helpful! I recently bought a gorgeous vintage necklace on one of my trips and wanted to restring it, but my jewelry-making skills are very rusty and I was having trouble getting a snug fit when knotting. Could you add name and links of the cording and glue you recommend?

What plier did you use to close the crimp? And can you use this type of crimp for wire jewelry?
@fireflycarrboro
@fireflycarrboro 8 ай бұрын
I’m using a smooth jaw, chain nose plier. I’m not sure what you mean by wire jewelry? Do you mean with a flexible cable wire? Or with actual bendable wire? If with the cable wire, I have seen this bead tip used.

Without seeing your beads, I can't say with 100% certainty, but if you're using nylon cording, you might have to use anywhere from a size 2 to a size 4 - I typically use Griffin Nylon cord.

Hi :) Could this bead tip be used to cover a crimp bead?
@fireflycarrboro
@fireflycarrboro 2 жыл бұрын
I've seen people use these to cover crimp beads although I don't always recommend this method with a crimp bead as sometimes you can't get a great crimp and the wire can slide out. If you're going to be using crimp beads, I recommend using the wire guard and crimp cover method - you can check out checking out our A How-To: Feel Good Pop {Necklace Kit} video, I've attached the link below: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/frGVpMqZ356ye2g.html

can u use this with wire string?
@fireflycarrboro
@fireflycarrboro 2 жыл бұрын
I've seen some people use these with crimps and something like a steel, cable wire string. But I don't recommend that. These are mostly to be used with silk or nylon cording.

Can I use this on wires?
@fireflycarrboro
@fireflycarrboro 2 жыл бұрын
You can use it with cable wire and a crimp, although I don't always recommend that as the wire can slide out through the crimp bead and then out of the clamshell. However, I have seen jewelry finished that way.

Is the clam shell strong enough to hold the clasp and the jump ring though ?? I feel like i dont trust it, plusbthe weight if the neclace ??
@fireflycarrboro

Sometimes the clamshell does open up if pulled too hard. Just like jump rings, there’s always a possibility they’ll open over time.
