Another view of the Illowra Light Railway, this time from a passenger’s perspective and also from the driver’s point-of-view.

Rails in the Garden are a group based in NSW, Australia that meet regularly to run our live steam and battery-electric trains on 32mm and 45mm gauge tracks at events held in member's gardens and at regular indoor exhibition events. We cater to all the common garden scales including Gauge 1, 16 mm, G-scale and 7/8ths scale.
We produce our own quarterly Australian magazine devoted to the garden railway hobby and subscription enquires are welcomed by e-mail: magazine@ritg.org.au.
Our premier annual event is the Southern Highlands Steam-Up (SHSU) and we are already looking forward to the next edition on 17-19 May 2024; details of pre-registration are available at shsteamup.com or by e-mail: registrar@shsteamup.com.

That line was right next to Sydney Harbour, north facing so plenty of light and an extremely steep site with plenty of moisture so the plants grow wild very quickly!

A nicely done video ride!..... at sedate train speeds with lots of "chuff". A very attractive little railway! Thanks for posting good stuff. -- Question: How was the Driver made to fit so well over the Displacement Lubricator??..... Molded over with "Poly-Clay" or something, then carved into the figure?? Or was the figure selected, then "ground out" & modified to fit?? -- I too have a much modified R-Hs "Katie", my first Lokey, built in 1999..... steamed frequently, but was stored for @ 11 years, pending my job pensioning. Now the Lokey is approaching 100 dutifully "logged" hours of wonderful fun times!! She was always treated kindly, and always steamed very well with never a major problem or concern for 20 years! Then, it was decided to completely transform her into an "Americanized" style of Lokey in 2020. Now it bears scant resemblance to my original "Katie", and much better suits the steaming ops on my small 40 foot indoor "Azure Range Ry", and is known as "UNO"..... still steaming & running as good as ever!! Hi, glad you enjoyed it! I’ll be sure to see your video, always interested to see what people have done with these RH locos. The driver is a commercial figure from Busy Bodies and is designed specifically to fit over the lubricator.

I have one of the Roundhouse 0-4-0 chassis. Looks very well made. I need to get busy. Yours looks great.

Well I built mine on the kitchen table with no fancy tools, no experience, skill or ability (that’s my first one) and painted it with a couple of rattle cans. So you can too! Only advice: ignore the instructions when they say don’t worry about any stiffness in the chassis as it will run in: a little bit of time spent really filing and fettling each moving part will repay you in spades with a smoother running loco.

You need a rotary brush trimmer.
