Fun Fact: While Gunstar Heroes was the first Treasure game to come out, McDonald’s Treasureland Adventure was the first of their projects to start development.

Also, as I've heard, Treasure did not want McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure to be released before Gunstar Heroes, as the studio did not want their first release to be a licensed game.

Anyone else think that the McDonald's games should be brought to modern consoles in a compilation? It happened before with Disney characters and the Ninja Turtles, and McDonald's has a surprisingly solid track record when it comes to video games.

Actually there's one more game! A Brazillian one! Is called McDonalds: O Resgate dos Bichos (McDonalds: The animal rescue) it was made for pc back in 2004 the story was about a Witch who kidnapped all the animals and Ronald goes on a mission to rescue them.

Here's a thought: Why does businesses like McD or BK never made a business simulation game? You would think that would be easy considering how easy it is to make a dollar. Think about it, an edutainment game about selling their products, that's free advertisement and a great way to convince parents to buy it for the kids.

There's actually another one that was only released in Japan for the Game Boy Color called "McDonald's Monogatari: Honobono Tenchou Ikusei Game" (roughly: "McDonald's Story: Heartwarming Store Manager Training Game"). Basically a simulation game where you create a character and work at a McDonald's and become the manager.

*11:38* The Spot was the mascot for 7-Up, not Sprite. It was always quite a stretch to just stick arms legs and shades on the red circle from the can and call it a mascot, but thems were the early 90s

Seeing someone play Treasure Land Adventure again unlocked a memory I had long forgotten. I rented this one a lot as a kid. I remember not being able to figure out the first boss.

Global Gladiators is a game I forgot existed but... I have this foggy memory of being 4 years old and getting this game at Blockbuster. It gave me nightmares for some reason. Looking back, it surprised me, but then again, kids get scared of weird stuff at that age.

Jontron reviewed Global Gladiators and it seemed good enough for me so I bought it and it was good. Certainly challenging but I liked it and OH MY GOD, I adored the soundtrack, it has one of the best first level themes I have ever heard and 2 tracks are almost as good which I really was NOT expecting, I expected the OST to be too cheesy and cringy but it was the type of cheesy that I LOVE.

It's worth noting there are some McDonalds games you've either missed or intentionally left out. A few flash ones and a few happy meal toys that were actual games and not just the LCD backlit ones.

Mcdonalds should have made a game where Ronald McDonald sneaks up on people and surprise them with hamburgers, as a way of saying "who are copying who now?" to Burger king. Also, having a clown sneaking up on you is much more terrifying than a king.

RPGs are a lot harder to translate due to having way more dialogue. Honestly I can't really think of many big NES/SNES era RPGs that are untranslated other than retranslations of the earlier Megami Tensei titles. (which were translated in the 90s and thus are super outdated) There are plenty of Saturn RPGs without translations however, which makes sense as Saturn emulation only became possible in 2018 or so and the games are super rare. Still waiting for fan translations of SMT Devil Summoner and the original non-Working Designs version of Lunar 1&2. Plus a retranslation/rebalance of Alundra PS1 would be nice. Retranslations/rebalances of every RPG Working Designs butchered while they're at it. But when even super obscure SNES RPGs like Eternal Filena and Treasure of the Rudras got fan translations, I don't think that there's many games left that are completely untranslated, just some games in need of a re-translation.

37:30 You unlock a red coloured skateboard if you get all 20 presents in score attack. A Ronald coloured skateboard if you want to stretch your imagination that far, as he's next to nowhere in that gamed. and that's it for unlockables in the game as far as i know.

Ah, Global Gladiators. From legendary coder Dave Perry (Earthworm Jim) and music from Tommy Tallarico. Was notorious for being able to be finished in an hour (as was the trend with Dave Perry games back in the day. The Terminator could be done in 20 minutes and this was before speedrunning).

You missed a Gameboy Color game that was an RPG where you work inside a McDonald's, unfortunately it was a japan-only exclusive. Luckily I did import it from Japan on eBay a year before the pandemic and got it for almost $10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked, that game goes for way more now. Glad I got it while I did! Also thanks to this video, now I want to reproduction card of Grimace's Birthday!😁🎂👌 Edit 8/24/23: Just ordered the Grimace's Birthday game and wow is it ever fun!! Looks nice on my purple GBC!

Was mak8ng dinner and half watching half listening and 15:45 in the video dude makes a comment about who makes the music and its relation to Earthworm Jim, but I can't see the screen. I have a feeling it's a Tommy Talirico joke, so I rewind and I'm not disappointed. That jokester worked on this game, I guess one of the few games he actually worked on instead of lying about working on lmao

Fun fact, the reason Ronald McDonald has his name changed in Japan (and a lot of other Asian nations) is because the “r” sound doesn’t really exist in alot of Asian languages so “Ronald” would be very hard to pronounce for native Japanese speakers, changing his name to “Donald” would make it easier for Japanese speakers, especially children, to pronounce his name.

Fun fact: one of the few consonant sounds Japanese has is transcribed as an "r" into the Latin Alphabet. れりろる (re ri ro ru) Though it's not a European "R", it's sounds something like a mix of r and l. And all "L" sounds in western languages are transcribed as one of those syllables too, e.g. "McDonalds" is マックドナルド, or "Makku Donarudo" if transcribed back into our Alphabet

BEFORE "Donald Land" in Japan, Atari Corp. was going to make a 2600 game. Ronald would get McDonald's food and bring it to hungry aliens so they wouldn't eat the Golden Arches; Hamburglar would even occasiuonally appear to make things difficult. The 2600 version is just a static image of the arches, but a WIP version on the 8 bit computers is far enough along to be playable. In _my_ mind, this game should be played with a mouse, with Ronald as the cursor;It would be like the game, "Mario and Wario" where you point and click. This isn't part of the orgiginal game though, this is just my opinion.

As someone who got Global Gladiators for Christmas along with the system, Sonic 1, Warsong & Bulls vs Blazers, during the 3rd grade...that was one frustrating game that I *did not* enjoy at all and soon became my least played title out of that stack til I traded it in. Dumb fun fact: Bootleggers Glory Sun took the game, hacked it up, and resold it as Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets for the Russian market to hilarious degree

Side note: the Genesis version of Global Gladiators also has a collection requirement for each level. Not sure how this was missed, but I distinctly remember not having enough M's to complete certain stages, in the Genesis version specifically. You can't just make a "B-line for the exit" even in this version. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but yeah, I think it's the same across every port.

That Game Gear game is surprisingly fun. It easily belongs in the top 10 games on Game Gear. Granted that is not a huge achievement given the state of it's library.

I've only ever played m.c kids (we always said it m. c kids, if it helps😅) my older brother could make it to the part with the mooses? I played it as an adult on an emulator and with many save states, extra lives/invincibility codes and online maps made it to the end. But I remember it being a little anticlimactic. But it made my little kid heart happy. My brother used to crack me up doing goofy sarcastic voices for everyone, so it's definitely a warm memory from an incredibly frustrating, difficult for the sake of difficult, rage quitting game

I believe you forgot one called "McDonald's Monogatari: Honobono Tenchou Ikusei Game", or in English "McDonald's Story: Friendly Manager Training". It was for the GBC in 2001 and it's kind of like the DS training one you mentioned except it was given an actual retail release only in Japan. Also, while I'm here, what's the next vid, the Burger King games? Lol (there's at least three of them if I recall correctly).

In the sponsor segment I recognize that song. It is minigame 1 from Pictionary but Tim Follins. Gilly told me about Tim's work and I found this song. Also as everyone has noticed by now it sounds exactly like another one bites the dust by queen. I don't know if this is intentional but Gilly made a good choice with this song for the sponsor segment because Another one bites the dust was supposed to be used for training music in Rocky before Eye of the Tiger was chosen.

If eSmart was for veteran employees in the 2000's and early 2010's, chances are that, them having been 25+ during that time, they were just... not into games and dumped those "toys", or at least didn't preserve them. Also, I think that vets would be more interested in staying at the Mac than wasting their time on gaming.

I used to be scared shitless of Ronald McDonald when I was a kid. SHIT LESS I TELL YOU. In part due to the lighting my childhood McDonald's decided for the mascot. The light was positioned right under him making the face look like a kid at a sleepover telling horror stories. That clown was so eerie looking. At least it deterred me as a kid from that unhealthy food. I have a photo somewhere where I was standing ten feet away from the clown but my parents titled it "Sasha standing with Ronald McDonald". HE WAS RONALD MCDEMON MORE LIKE IT.

I had absolutely no idea McDonald's made a Game Boy Color game for Grimace's birthday, I only knew about the stupid TikTok trend and the Grimace shake, this is way, WAY cooler than any of those things, I checked the site where the game can be played and it feels like one of those oldschool internet sites, sometimes McDonald's really takes me by surprise with how cool they are, I mean I can't believe people were able to extract the ROM and play it in the hardware, it doesn't just look like a GBC game, it IS a GBC game, wow, thanks for telling me about it gilly.

I recently found out something about "McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure"; the prototype makes even MORE sense! The gems that are the hit points are big macs, and the rings / flowers you'd collect are fries and sodas / shakes. That feature should've remained in the final. Also I like how the "politically correct" version has the island tribesmen be robots; this helps to make it a trippy experience. BOUNS - the game is based heavily on a promotional vhs "Adventures of Ronald McDonald - McTreasure Island" and to a lesser extent, an in house birthday party episode called "Ronald and the Adventure Machine" (Professor makes a ship for the characters). EDIT - Doesn't the final boss of "Treasure Land Adventure" look like he came from an episode of "Digimon"?
