In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I'm raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. Best time to go through the tunnel,is when.or just after it's rained,the waterfalls coming down the face of the cliff's just through the tunnel is something to behold

I grew up in the South Island (Christchurch) and I still feel that the West Coast, Central Otago and Fjordland are some of the most beautiful places on Earth. (Queenstown is my fantasy retirement home.) I haven't been there in almost 20 years and it still holds up!

Thank you for showing me Milford Sound. I remember my late father talking about it. It must have had a profound effect on him for him to remember it and talk about it so many years later (maybe 50 years later). His family emigrated from London to NZ in 1925 when he was 12 years old. He spent his teenage years at Nightcaps (South Island, not too far from Milford Sound). I believe in those days you could only get there by boat. He left NZ and moved back to London when he was 21 in 1934. Before the days of flying. It was a 6 week journey by boat. He always had a love for NZ in his heart. He finally was able to visit 60 years after he left, when he was 81. The world is a different place these days!

We were there in February on a crazy rainy/windy day so took a bus instead of the motorcycles. The waterfalls were so amazing, they were everywhere!

Thanks for the memories Kinga. I visited Milford sound many years ago when I returned to NZ and met my father again (and half sister) after 20 years 😢😊 I hope the average Kiwi you meet is at least half as friendly and down to earth as back then. Safe travels mate

Hi Kinga 🙋 It was a bit cold in the mountains, especially on a bike.Fantastic ride on the fairy boat.I love waterfalls.There are more than 250 waterfalls,where I live.

Thanks for sharing Kinga. I've never actually ridden a motorcycle all the way to Milford sound. I think the 4 times I've being their I've being by bus 3 times from Te Anau & the last time we went we actually flew in from Frankton Arm in Queenstown. The best weather we had was the day we took the plane-clear blue sky & no wind. Every other time I've being it's being cloudy like you had or lite rain. Time we flew was during covid when no overseas tourists & the north Island was also in lock down so the flights were half their normal price. As you say a great experience & very difficult to film or photograph in order to project the enormity of the place. It's on my bucket list to ride my bike there. Hopefully over december/january school holiday's. I'm doing a tour of Australia on my motorbike next year so really looking forward to that one.

We did the Milford Sound in Feb on bikes while touring NZ truly spectacular scenery, great roads and we also stayed at that camp ground in a cabin at Mossburn its a nice cheap and very friendly place. I have been enjoying this series especially your perspective on roads I have travelled and videoed great job keep it up,

I went through that dreadfully frightening "Homer Tunnel" before it was lit and without 'stop-go' traffic control, being met in the middle by two large busses packed with screeching back-packers, and was forced to reverse out of the way, in the dark. My trousers still show the brown patch from that experience. Since then the silly Kiwis had a couple of fatal incidents inside that hell hole, including a bus fire, and have improved safety somewhat, from what I see on Kinga's video.

New Zealand is a very beautiful place but I guess there are so many mountains, valleys, glaciers lakes and breath taking views it's difficult to find anything else to look at. It must be difficult for you to find interesting copy. I guess you could get all a bit fed up with it? OH! No not another lake or waterfall again.
