On the plus side, if the Guitar doesn't work then you've created one helluva sanding block!

i'm only at 6min in. why not add a few extra strips of veneer where the strap button would be? say like 5 layers, but as they move into the guitar, make then increasingly shorter so that it's thickest right where the nut screws into the body and then it thins out as u move away from that point so u get a nice curve effect when they are sanded down. maybe even use different strains of wood so that u get a nice alternating color like u did with the f hole and such. i think that would add a nice design element and add the much desired structural stability u were wanting. ok on with the rest of the video!

You could also use Garnet blasting media looks pink but with a finish coat would go to more of a red colour.

It’s been sometime since I’ve let myself enjoy some crimson content. Personal reasons, life had me down for awhile. Anyway it’s so awesome to see you still doing things that surprise me lol. Look forward to the finished product. :)

I know a lot of watches have a bump-out where the knob (to wind the watch or set the hands - aka the crown) goes into the case of the watch. I kinda wanted the strap button to be the crown, with knurling and all of that. Then you could have had a little bump that would have added a lot of strength to the bottom of the guitar.

That is basically the procedure we used to put the non-skid deck coating on our Coast Guard boats but we used a heavy epoxy base coat.

Without a clear coat of some type with enough mil thickness that guitar will tear up everything it touches.

I feel like this could have been a skateboard inspired build. And could have had the same result with the deck grip tape, seems very similar and self adhesive

I love the look of this, but I have to ask - how sharp is the grit on this after coating with flashcoat? I'm guessing you could still give yourself quite a graze if you weren't careful! Gives a whole new meaning to "shredding on that guitar" 🤣

why not use Tolex spray, or spray undercoating-gravel guard, Rhino hide so many options

Without glue, is there any worry of warping, even slightly enough to cause buzz from the string vibration?

You mean buzzing from the top vibrating against the side? I believe the answer is yes but it shouldn't be hard to fix.

Hey Ben - did you by any chance happen to keep the timber from the core of this body? Tom mentioned the idea of doing a collaboration when I was emailing him about the marking knife, and the GGBO build guitar would seem like an interesting choice for material... (Not as interesting as the swamp Kauri, but still!) - Ian (Ronald Knives)

The great guitar giveaway website is not working properly on the iPad, iPhone, and Android phone. The landing page is flickering and glitching every second. I’ll try on my windows laptop tonight, but when I tried to log in on my home PC two weeks ago, windows defender and Malware Bytes both flagged the site and said the certificate was invalid. A month ago I had no problem bidding on guitars through the website, but now that the site was updated it’s been an uphill battle…
