2001 was the first year I watched the NFL and I instantly became a fan of Kurt Warner and the Rams. Even when Warner moved on from the Rams, I still rooted for him as well as the Rams. Warner will always be my favorite NFL player. Watching old GSOT clips on KZfaq, this offense was revolutionary. Very well in sync and explosive. You did a great job with this video. As a former St. Louis Rams fan, as well as a Kurt Warner fan, I enjoyed it.

The greatest show on Turf was among the greatest teams ever fielded..... Ever.... But the whiny griping at 14:22 is a bit petty & trashy, the Rams could have made 15 plays differently and won that game, the FACT of the matter is the Patriots beat them because the Patriots were a better team on that day..... And hence the DYNASTY was born..... And would last for 20 consecutive years which obviously proves how truly legitimate the Patriots are, were and continue to be With that being said.... The NFL may never again see something like the Greatest Show on Turf Sure the 2007 Patriots and 2013 Broncos are arguably tied for the greatest offensive seasons of all time..... But they both lost the superbowl.... These Rams made it to 2, won 1 and with just a tiny more bit of luck they could have went to the super bowl 3 years in a row..... But as so it goes..... Very much like Tom Brady, Kurt Warner was overlooked and underestimated by the supposed experts & people who know..... And Warner going to Arizona and bringing that team to a Superbowl only verifies him as one of the greatest of all time

Not really.... Not anymore anyways.... He's the only mothaeffa with his own Hollywood movie..... And he brought THE ARIZONA CARDINALS to the Superbowl and played good enough to win mvp..... He was overlooked and missed by the supposed "experts" who claim to know who has "IT" and who doesn't..... Just like with Tom Brady the experts didn't know shht about shht..... When the pressure is the highest and it matters the most nothing the experts "know" counts for anything..... Warner is truly among the GOATS and a class act

Mike Martz's offense was simply unsustainable. It puts way too much pressure on the O-line, and the QB receives way too much punishment. There's a reason why all of Martz's QB's (Warner, Bulger, Cutler) had durability issues.
@90sSportsNostalgia
@90sSportsNostalgia 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. There's a lot to talk about Mike Martz in which I hope to get to in a video soon, but Martz's QBs get beat up. Martz has this thing at times where he likes to call similar plays with 7 -step drops despite knowing his QB will get destroyed. There was this Bears-Saints game where Martz kept calling pass plays with 7-step drops and Cutler kept getting sacked and he wouldn't change. But he has a great reputation for designing routes for the WRs. But thank you so much for the comment and thank you for watching the video.

Belichek knew the Rams were accuracy and timing. The Pats defense should have had 20 illegal contact penalties. They would intentionally hold hit and push receivers off their routes 10-20-30 yards down the field. Faulk also made a comment about taping the walk through. Apparent Rams had a Red Zone personnel package they never used all season. They line up and Pats D is perfectly lined up to counter the formation and personnel.
@90sSportsNostalgia
@90sSportsNostalgia 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the comment and watching the video. The DBs were able to play like that back then until the NFL decided to enforce illegal contact more starting in 2004 (due to the Pats playing the same way vs IND in the AFC Champ Game). I never heard about that Red Zone package situation. Thanks for posting that. I heard about Faulk talking about the Pats taping the walkthrough (then supposedly, the NFL basically burned all of the footage so no one could see the Spygate stuff) but anyways, I heard that Martz kind of knew about the taping but was so arrogant and confident about winning the game as he didn't care, but not sure how true that is. But thank you so much for the comment and mentioning that.
@crater044
@crater044 2 жыл бұрын
I read up on the taping of the walkthrough situation for the SB between the Rams and Patriots. According to the NFL's investigation, it was never proven that the Patriots taped anything of the Rams' walkthrough. In fact, Matt Walsh (who was a former video assistant for the Patriots during the 2001 season and was fired in 2002) was willing to give out some information about the Patriots' taping. He was apparently at the Rams walkthrough but he did not tape anything for that walkthrough (according to a co-worker of his, he made a comment of "We should've taped that". There was never a tape nor was there any proof that the Patriots did tape the Rams' walkthrough. The Boston Herald, through an unnamed source, were the ones who reported it. And while I do think Marshall Faulk is right to be upset and thinks something fishy went on, there was never any proof and even when, during the investigation, they had a guy (Walsh) who was willing to give information about the Patriots and even he had no proof of taping that walkthrough (even making a comment that he should have taped it). In fact, that's why Willie Gary, who played safety for the Rams during that SB, retracted his lawsuit against the league because Walsh didn't have any evidence on the matter so it was an exercise in futility and he wasn't going to win anything. But talking about the Rams and the Greatest Show on Turf, I loved watching this team in 1999 and 2000. However, once Warner's injuries started taking a toll on him, the team quickly started fizzling out (they weren't bad but they weren't what they were). I was really worried and thought Warner was down after St. Louis. His tenure with the Giants was horrible and it didn't start out that great with Arizona......thankfully he pulled it together and had some great years with Arizona to finish off his career with a SB loss. And yea, they did have a favorable path to the SB but in all honesty, that doesn't discredit what they accomplished at all. Just because you have a favorable path doesn't mean it'll lead you to the SB......it was the luck of the draw and the Cardinals were still able to pull off the victories necessary. And it gave us an exciting SB against Pittsburgh!

In the Superbowls, I was rooting for the Titans, and they lost. Then, I was rooting for the Cards, aaand they lost. I'm definitely NOT the guy you want picking your Superbowl bets for you! As far as Warner goes, I believe that because of his personality, attitude, compassion, dedication, and genuine life of faith OFF the field, he proved to be an UNDISPUTED leader and hero regardless of what anyone has to say about his all too brief time ON the field! Warner, to me, earned his HoF spot by being the COMPLETE picture of what fans look for and want in a HoF Legend. 🐐 🐏 🏈 🏆 💯 Just my opinion! Thanks for an awesome video!! 😁

Thank you so much for the comment as I enjoyed reading it. I agreed about your comment about Martz. One day I hope to do a video about him. Yes, he may have had great route combinations designing plays, but as I said in the video, he loves calling 7-step drops despite at times when they aren't working. Furthermore, I saw a story where position coaches would get angry at Martz because near the end of the week, Martz would change the gameplan, thus angering his position coaches (due to what they were working on in practice and now it goes for waste) and Martz would throw that challenge flag at such perplexing moments. He once through a flag during the opening kickoff for a 5-yard difference or something like that. Thanks for the comment and thanks watching for the video.

tory holt is a top 10 WR in NFL history. isaac bruce i feel is in the echelon of like top 50 of best wideoouts THEN theu had one of the best running backs in the league that was also a better receiver than most #2 guys on any roster and was good enough to be the first option in more than just a few #1s their 3rd wideout wtv his name was.. that man was their weakest link that never showed up in the biggest games and was muted completely by top tier vs the best slot wrs. he also turned the ball over at the worst times. thats the essence of Martz wanting to get cute and throw to him in the slots too often when they had 2 game breaking receivers AND MARSHALL FAULK. why is it necessary to camp on your slot receiver who had biscuits and gravy hands? it costed them a ring.

The Rams defensive drop-off the next season after their 1999 Super Bowl season happened because they played a first place schedule and the AFC West instead of a last place schedule and the AFC Central, which was terrible on offense for the most part…also the NFC West got better in general during the 2000 season. The 2001 Rams were the best team of the bunch after taking all this information into account-they just couldn’t win it all in the end.
@90sSportsNostalgia
@90sSportsNostalgia 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for the comment. I originally wrote about the perceived weak schedule but then took it out. But the NFC west was perhaps the weakest division in 1999 and the Rams did not play the 14-2 Jaguars who were part of the AFC Central in 1999. Yes the Rams played a tougher schedule in 2000 but for some reason I thought the secondary really took a step back along with Kevin Carter in 2000 no matter who they played. But great info as always. I always appreciate it.

Thank you so much for commenting and watching the video. Thanks for watching all the way to the end with when I talked about Warner with the Cards. That was being said about the Cards going into the playoffs in 2008 and a lot had to do with that loss to New England. But when Warner started wearing gloves in 2007, the Cards became a better team. Warner played well at the second half of 2007. You are also right about the NFC West being bad during that time. Thank you so much for commenting and watching the video.

Martz is to blame for the 2003 playoff loss to the panthers. The rams had the ball down 23-20 with less than a minute left and plenty of time to score a TD and win the game 27-23. Instead, martz doesn’t run another play, but let’s the clock run down to three seconds, calls a timeout and kicks the game tying field goal. Smh

I wanted to do a follow up video about Mike Martz about his very puzzling coach decisions (including his bizarre challenges) to him being able to find a way to irritate his position coaches because he would change the game plan deep into the week. Maybe I will get to it but we shall see. But thanks for the comment and watching the video. Enjoy the NFL Playoffs.
