Following on from the first version launched last year in stainless steel and on a bracelet, the new Lange Odysseus in White Gold defies expectations again this year by coming on a rubber strap, the first time for such a classically oriented brand. I saw it at the 2021 NYC WatchTime show and was very impressed. I actually like it better than the steel version.

I think perhaps A. Lange & Sohne have thought it through that simply some people's budget wouldn't stretch to a white gold bracelet given the price without one. Also they probably thought it might be a good idea for them to introduce this stunning piece on its own without said bracelet to test the market, I know I would if I were in their shoes.. Same with the silver Tudor black bay 58 /925.. We all know that gold and silver wear down (being softer that steel) when links rub together depending on how tightly the individual would wear it. They've probably got a few bracelets "stashed" away in the workshop somwhere for the odd person that would insist on having one.

I like everything about it on a leather strap EXCEPT the end links/end pieces that flow from the case to the strap...it just doesnt look right to me.

I kind of like this. Hate the bracelet on the steel version, but this gives it a bit of a steampunk vibe.

so if you do not like the end links, you must not like the AP Royal Oak or ROOS on straps because the end links are virtually the same. IMO, the work fine and acutally look interesting more so than an PP Aquanaut. I say this and own both the Aquanaut and this WG Odysseus

That lug area (metal piece connect strap with case) looks so wrong, also I like the watchface of the steel version better, the outer circle of the face look very different. I think the circular pattern works the best,

steel version worse and worse.. It looks so Circle. that is all.. and now ? .. can't change that ugly bracelet .. horrible change,

very dull dial, the second sub dial on a sports watch is also weird. The movement and finishing looks beautiful. But the most abominable portion is that integrated bracelet/lug portion, go for the SS or Titanium version instead.

The dial is so better than on the steel and removing that horrible bracelet has improved it no end. Now, if only they could get rid of those end links.
