Here is a known kit among the modelling fraternity but worth seeing how it looks out of the box never-the-less.
Also, nice to see how it compares to the re-released Airfix kit as part of their "dogfight doubles" vintage range.
The option for an exposed engine on a 1:72 scale kit is unusual in itself.

Well that one will take you a fair time to build with all the fiddly little bits and all those lovely wires to fit 🙂 Love the detail, for me I think I would like to do a hangar / maintenance shed diorama, to show all the engine.

I will probably (eventually) build this one with engine open. Not planning on a full diorama though.

@@Payne2view I know you are not into dioramas but I think for me it would be how I would build it.

One of Roden's better 1/72 WW1 kits,it goes together pretty well. Thanks for reviewing.

That's okay. I'm just trying to make content for my channel so wouldn't claim to be much of a reviewer. Glad you liked it. It is a good kit.

Well, I appreciate your WW1 focus, there are some very buildable kits out there in 1/72. Eduard's Nieuport 17, Spad X111,Fokker Dr1, Fokker DV11 and Airfix Fokker E11 are among the most available, Airfix vintage Pup , DH4, Roland C11 and Hanover are all buildable, given their age.

I'd love to see a build video of this kit. Roden have a great range of WW1 aircraft in 1/72 scale but I've always been a bit dubious about putting one together. It certainlyy looks a decent kit however.

Yes a video build would be interesting but not from me any time soon. Don't worry about how a kit will build, just gotta just give it a go.

I bought this kit as well as the Airfix F2B (nostalgia for my childhood over 60 years ago). The Roden kit is difficult to assemble in fact I gave up and dumped it. The airfix kit will require a lot more work to make a decent model but I will be giving it a try. I think Roden was formerly called TOKO, I've just bought their 1/72nd scale Sopwith 1/2 Strutter and I'm expecting a similar struggle.

Did Ireland have them after independence? If so, they had a more powerful Airforce 100 years ago than now. As far as I'm aware Ireland only has a couple of helicopters and maybe a drone now.

@@Payne2view given the technology of the day we had a better air corps even in ww2 than we do now as we had Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Seafires....we even had Spitfires in the 1950s (the odd ball Tr Mk9 two seat trainer of which only 20 were ever made)

Every time I look at the cover art, I feel regretful that there is no pilot figure sculpture on it.

I tend not to use the pilot figures so don't miss it. I've probably got a little man in my spares box though.
