I'm at an age where I now have serious nostalgia for this game, even though it's generally all about No Mercy and WCW vs NWO Revenge for me.

GameCube is a very underrated system, it had some of the most memorable games for me to this day. Geist, lord of the rings the third age, paper mario thousand year door, metroid prime, super Mario sunshine, fire emblem path of radiance, star fox adventures and assault, luigis mansion, metal gear twin snakes, f zero, this system is full of absolute bangers

This was literally my favorite game on the gamecube. I loved this game from the graphics, to the move sets, the fighting engine, everything about this game. The 2nd one was good, but the stamina system killed it for me. The 1st one was always the best in my opinion

Day of reckoning was so great. Everything about the shame was so f*cking entertaining. It was just as good as SVR if not better.

One gaming mechanic that has not been done since Day of Reckoning is the ability to interrupt every single move, mid-move. It was one of the most realistic features. Unlike other games where you have no choice to watch patiently while the Rock slowly does the people’s elbow to your tag team partner you can punch him any time during the move. Fatal 4 way and triple threat matches are chaotic fun. Tag team matches are awesome. Breaking up the Undertaker’s tombstone on your partner before he can land it is fun af.

Keep grinding bro you’re honestly making my favorite wrestling content. One of the few people on KZfaq with the same positive mindset about wrestling is really refreshing.

DoR 2 is of course the best one and has held up over time in my opinion, the graphics and game play still is amazing. None of them quite beat HCTP but still incredibly fun.

This game was Lead in design by Shunsuke Katsumata who did the 3D Animation on AKI games like WCW/nWo Revenge and WWF Wresltemania 2000 he also was an Assistant Director on WWF No Mercy. He and his Yuke's team basically rebuilt the AKI engine for the Gamecube with trial and error of WMx8 and XIX and got a barebones No Mercy-like game by the time they got to DOR, with some improvements like the special meter, and grapple strikes, more ground positions, etc. You'll even see similarities in lockerroom and the main menus from the fonts to the color scheme. I'd check out No Mercy again if you haven't played in a bit.

I had both days of reckoning, wrestlemania 18 and 19 games. There were amazing. I just saw were you dissed the wrestlemania games. They were super fun especially 19.

Day of Reckoning pretty much used the same exact fighting engine that Wrestlemania XIX used, but was smoother and more polished. I know XIX gets a lot of hate for the Revenge mode, but I personally loved that part of the game. It felt very free and adventure-like. You could even go through it with any character you want, including female superstars. After you complete Revenge mode, you get the option to play your matches outside of the ring. So if you ever got bored of fighting in a traditional ring, you can fight the AI and your friends in a parking lot, on top of a crane, inside of a mall etc. I love both games honestly. XIX, DoR and DoR 2 are my favorite WWE games of all time.

I remembered my friends having a PS2 and Xbox. I was the only one with a Gamecube. When the commercial for Day Of Reckoning came out I was pumped ! I got the game, sick soundtrack and fun game play. I also purchased the sequel. Good times.

I've played wrestling games since Wrestlemania 2000 on Nintendo 64, & I periodically go back & play the older games. In my honest opinion, WWE 2K19 is one of the greatest wrestling games of all time. That's bc of how much you can do. You can really make it your own. I'm so glad the servers are still up

I did the exact same thing as you! Grew up with SYM & HCTP and always wished I could play the DOR series. About 5 years ago I played the DOR 1 & 2 for the first time and was in love. They’re completely different from the smackdown series but both have areas where they shine. Can’t wait for you to do a review of the DOR2!(the only real flaw in that game is the stamina system). A really cool idea for a video would be if you did a DOR(1&2) vs SvR(OG&06). Maybe like a scoring system based on multi man matches, storylines, graphics, gameplay, etc. It would be so much nostalgia in one video.

I'll be the first one to admit i was lucky i even got to play the game. When i was growing up me and my family was dirt poor so we couldn't afford a game console but one night my brother got lucky on a raffle and he won a GameCube, because of that we got Day Of Reckoning the next Christmas.

Playing this as a kid was so dope. I remember seeing screens on ign, but first saw it in a magazine and was tripping like "i gotta have that game". Smash bros was the reason i got gamecube. Day of reckoning is why i kept it

That is a shame you missed out on this back in the day. I can not tell you how many hours I put into this game. I still play it to this day once in a while. This game is better than some of the crappy wrestling games that we have today and that is sad. Glad you finally got to try it though.
