No he failed everything, these were actual tests. You can tell he thinks outside the box and is way more practical than theoretical but he was supposed to behave within the parameters of the test as do all the others. The discussion between the MIBs clarify this. In the end the boss just decides to trust his senior agent despite the results and not because of it. The MIBs actually just look for Delta force types, which K here perfectly exemplify. A man of few words, straight to the point, pretty uptight, rigid and serious, efficient and responsible as well as selfless. But J got an actual alien on the field and K wants to give him a shot.

@@NKWittmannI’m sure most of the normal MIB operatives like cleanup crews would have been more conventional candidates like those shown. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them retest later on but thinks it’s their first time again, only to get hired. Still, Jake impressed on the first test but not in the usual ways. Straight out of the gate he starts asking questions and cuts straight through the bs answer to point out it’s absurdity. James has critical thinking skills and isn’t afraid to point out when something is fishy, great qualities for the investigative side of MIB operations, and something K likes. He then uses creative thinking with use of the table, making use of the available resources, regardless of it making a scene, the others just floundered about. In the second test you can actually see Zed looking somewhat impressed with James’s analysis and judgement, except he bottles it with his attitude.

3:52 Jay managed to find Tiffany, notice her textbooks, and take the shot in four seconds, all while strobe lights, gunshots, and roars were going off around him. The only thing I would knock Jay for in the shooting test would be that he took a headshot first rather than hitting Tiffany in the leg.
@rickyjagodowski69
@rickyjagodowski69 4 күн бұрын
I disagree with knocking J for that. When deadly force becomes necessary, the best action is to aim for the center-of-mass (i.e. torso). Don’t shoot to injure or shoot to kill; shoot to end the threat. Aiming for center-of-mass maximizes the probability of hitting your target in a way that will end the threat they pose. A headshot should only be attempted by an excellent marksman in an extreme situation. An argument can be made that this applies to J’s situation here. J appears to be an excellent marksman; he knows he can make a headshot if he has to. Also, the above self-defense guidelines are for human threats. We’re discussing aliens here, specifically aliens disguised as humans. We see throughout the series that many of the smaller aliens operate mechanical human suits, sometimes using the head as the cockpit. If this is the case for Tiffany, a shot to the legs does nothing but alert “Tiffany” to J, which only endangers J more. A headshot, if accurate, is the best chance to end the threat. J made the right call.

08:29. Actually, 500 years ago people knew Earth was round. Columbus did not took the opposite route on a whim nor to prove anything. People knew Earth was round since Antiquity; famously, Eratosthenes measured its circumference in 240 BC with great accuracy.
@datagawa
@datagawa 15 күн бұрын
The reason Columbus so confidently sailed the opposite direction was that he incorrectly calculated the circumference of the earth to be 16,300 nautical miles. Instead of basing his calculations on the work of Eratosthenes, which would have given him the correct figure of 21,600 nautical miles, he made the critical mistake of basing his calculations on the work of Al-Farghani and mistaking the Arabic mile for the Roman mile. He also stretched out the landmasses in the eastern hemisphere that would put the Mercator projection to shame. The more you read about Columbus, the more you realize that although he was a superb navigator, he was a complete dunce at everything else. He was damned lucky that America got in the way.
@natenathan2654

The most stressful job interview i had was getting hired at Warner Brothers. Seriously every single minute felt like a "test" and there were times you just wanted to quit and walk out during the one week of "Training" they give you (That is a whole other story) During the interview and training this scene played through my head over and over again of everyone just suffering and being tormented by such simple little things. Honestly longest week of my life job wise. No joke, im pretty sure i deserve some kind of Navy Seal achievement for putting up with the physiological torment of their hiring process, its the worst ive ever encounter. And i have 20 years of Corporate/Private training and interviews from a slew of different companies and industries. Either way i want the Navy Seals to let me skip a few days of hell week....i swear ive already lived it.

The secret is “little things”. People are prepared to deal with the occasional big thing, and big things are easier to get help with. The little things pile up and become one very hard to sanely explain big thing. No one sounds incompetent, unprepared, or too easily stressed when they are facing big things. But little things bogging you down just make you seem sensitive, unprepared, and incompetent for getting your self in that position. Also it’s easier to throw lots of little things at people while maintaining plausible deniability than big things. If you’re gonna sabotage or mobb on someone you don’t do it by completely disabling their car or ransacking to work space. You give em some flat tires and move around their tools. “Little things” that compound into big things. You move someone’s stuff around for a month. And you get all the reactions of accusations, told you so’s, makes them look forgetful and you look like an innocent person a victim of their paranoia. They will start taking a lot of care to know where their stuff is even specifically put it in a spots just to see if it moves. And what can they do when it moves again? 5 secs after they go off your like it’s right here under This. Lower someone’s tire pressure 10lb ten times let. Then give them a flat. Repeat and mix it up after about 2 months the damage is permanent. They now are forever stripped of peace of mind. And can do nothing about it besides be paranoid and increasing volatile over time. Shit change chromes to a different color than a week later change em back. What can they do. “Little things” be hitting hard. Shit if your really on a budget and want to put on pressure. Wait for them to do something and than just go behind them and modify it slightly and say it’s wrong. Like right after they do it if you want. What can they do argue with you? They have to stfu and accept you bsing them to their face or press the issue and quit. Do it for a week straight, like they didn’t make fame sure it was right lol.

People are still using same strategy for hiring. Employers already have people on their mind. But they are gonna call all of us and waste our time

Yeah. People need to be able to identify a problem and come up with a solution by themselves.

It's almost as if confirming that your applicants are as capable as you initially assume them to be is an important step in a hiring process.

A friend went to an interview with a paper test, they were specifically told to read the whole test before starting. Get to the last page it said not to bother with the test and stabd on their chair. First few people to do it looked insane, then the rest caught on.

3:17 How difficult would it have been for him to tilt the table to one side to role it? Or was the screeching a plot point?

The point is I think, that he does not care what other people think, he will not conform to the situation but try to make the situation conform to what he needs. Nobody was comfortable taking the test, he was the only one who got up and did something, was not self-conscious or doubtful

So technically does this K, know it is Jay back from the time in the 60s. Is that canon? (Even though of course that film had t came out yet)

Something I didn't appreciate the 1st time, after the pistol sequence, he's pretty much confirmed the whole interview was bullshit.

I have to say this film is one of my favs. Edgar Bug was one of funniest. Perfect portrayal of an inbred hillbilly.

Why is the security to this place so lax? If you´re a stranger, they won´t let you in if you don´t show a card. When you get out, you get neuralized first, and would never guess you need a card to get in.

It's always seemed to me that this was a job interview for only one person, and the rest were there as window dressing... Does anyone else think that no matter how well, say, the Navy Seal did, he'd be going away with a hole in his memory?

It's very humorous reading the comments from people who have questions or comments on a movie plot... As if it has a deeper meaning, or some sort of reality! It's just a well compiled group of fictional images, the majority of the world calls a movie!

Love this movie - loved it. I tried but I have trouble watching anything with Mr. Smith in it since his entitlement breakdown at the Oscars. All I see is douche bag now. Sad.
