They all are so much better than say that clown Perkins for example. Obviously Perkins knows basketball-but his stat padding comments,& insinuating Jokic only won 2 MVPs cuz hes white...just shows what a clown he is-or how he just wanted ratings. These 3 all clearly know basketball,& arent trying to shock us with nonsense.

@@JasonSmith-pe5py its weird though because I'm not sure Perkins does know basketball, he was just big, he could defend, but he would go undrafted if he was 19 year old going through the draft today. No use for him. Its weird he hates on Jokic since they're both slow unathletic big men.

It does, but unfortunately, it also shows that he only watches the Celtics game. There are a lot of coaches in the NBA that actually let the players control the huddle, then come in later to draw up the play. So this wasn't a Smart-Mazzulla exclusive thing. Also, the pace they were mentioning. These guys really didn't have a clue why they played fast against the Sixers, but played slow with the Heat. Against the Sixers, the entire scheme was to make Embiid tired by the end of the first half, because everyone in the league knows that the guy is not in good shape, in terms of conditioning. He was getting gassed after the 1st quarter every game. You can't run that shit against the Heat. These guys work like no others in the NBA. You are not going to outlast them on the basketball court in a high-pace game. Also, the Heat were DRAINING THREES the entire series. Three guys shot over 50% behind the arc. Two guys shot 48-49% behind the arc. If you play fast, your defense becomes more susceptible to transition threes from your opponents. A league average wide open threes (no defender within 6 feet) is around 39%. These Heat players were shooting contested threes at 50% clip. The Celtics lost that series because the players from the Heat shot the ball like Steph Curry. There was really nothing the Celtics could do at that point.

It's really sad to see him go. The only celtics game I've been to was in January of 22. Ot was just at the start where the celtics turned it around. The season was going real bad, everyone was missing shots, the energy is was kinda meh and Marcus played so fucking hard every second he was on the court. Watching it on TV doesn't do him justice. I was blown away by how much he cared and the effort he gave. Regardless of how he's playing that is so important. He will be missed. Ps. Bill, your dad is awesome bring him on the pod more.

As a Lakers fan I was so jealous of the Celtics of five years ago. Great young core that had already made some noise in the playoffs. As a C's fan I honestly think you're overrating those early Tatum/Brown teams. Tatum 1st year/Brown 2nd: They lose Hayward/Kyrie to injury then the Jays/Smart/Rozier/Horford/Morris/Baynes core take Lebron to 7 in the ECFs. Great run but their inexperience hit them hard in that G7 of the ECF. Tatum 2nd/Brown 3rd: Kyrie's final season here. They returned everyone along with a healthy Kyrie/Hayward then everything that could go wrong, did. They got knocked out in the 2nd round by Milwaukee. Tatum 3rd/Brown 4th: They lose Kyrie/Horford/Rozier/Morris/Baynes to FA/trade with just Kemba coming in. Somehow they make the ECF against Miami in the Bubble but lack of a legit center to face Bam and no depth, they lose. Beating the defending champ Raptors in 7 games of round two was the first real playoff series win where they showed some real grit. The Bucks/Sixers series from 2018 were much easier than this TOR/BOS one. Tatum 4th/Brown 5th: Ainge really screwed that season's team by not consolidating his 2019-21 draft pick horde into some experienced depth. They start the season with 9 players on the roster in their 1st or 2nd season. Tristan Thompson & Jeff Teague were the 2 FAs brought in and by the time the playoffs start Brown is done for the year,Kemba & Rob get hurt in round 1 then Evan Fournier & Jabari Parker see heavy playoff minutes. They lose a gentleman's sweep to the KD/Kryie/Harden Nets. That offseason Ainge steps down as PBO, Stevens steps down as HC to replace Danny and they hire Ime to be the coach. Horrible start to their season but finish it off great, then go 7 to beat the Bucks & Heat before losing the Finals to GS in 6. This was the first season where Tatum & Brown take a significant step up as THE guys in Boston while Smart takes over as the starting PG and wins DPOY. Then we findout Udoka couldn't keep it in his pants,he gets suspended and they name Mazzulla interim HC the day before training camp starts before giving him the full time job at the AS break. We all saw how this season ended and honestly I wasn't surprised thats how it all played out. They built their roster and scheme around one Coach's planning then at the last minute had to have someone else take over who preferred to do things his way. It was really their talent that got them as far as they did and Mazzulla saw firsthand that what he was doing didn't work if you're not hitting your threes. Some of those early Tatum/Browns year they definitely showed promise but those early playoff runs were won mostly off their talent. Now they're experience is finally starting to catch up but like we just saw in the Warriors Finals & Heat ECF,they're not there yet. Winning a ring let alone making the Finals is so freakin hard and these two have been so close to reaching that plateau but still have a ways to go. NGL though,I was really hoping to see a Boston/Lakers finals 😉

I really wanted it to work with smart but he is not a true point guard and the celtics tried to make him into one at times. He's not a shooting guard because he's a mediocre-average level shooter that never sees a shot that he doesn't like. He was not the only problem with the celts offense of the past 4 years.or so but they had to do something.

I think Smart defines the culture that falls short: too much flopping, too much whining at the refs. Did you see how little of that crap was going on in the Finals? Anyway, they might have less talent without Smart but I bet they play better basketball. Oh, and they need to play less hero ball. Smart really does think he's a star-caliber player.

He watched Phil chase out Melo then wrote him up for leaving without exit interview. His coaches were Jeff Hornecek and Kurt Rambis. He blew his knee out and the front office, Steve Mills & Scott Perry wanted to under pay him so he’s movable if they sign Durant and Kyrie. He was a basket case till he was traded. Since he came to Washington Wes Unseld Jr worked on strengthening his lower body. He’s really matured and improved his game tremendously. I watched him last season and strengthening his lower body has really helped to keep him healthy.

I was a huge fan of Smart in pre draft workouts. Dude was a 6'4" 220lbs combo guard that had all the talent to be a good offensive weapon (best as a 3rd option) but the size and tenacity to be able to be an on ball stopper defensively...and guard multiple positions (1-3). I knew that if he got the jumpshot down to be a threat to make open shots...he was going to be a good guard in the league. To me, boston is going to miss having him on the team. Yes, they needed a big badly, but I wouldn't have given up Smart for the big. I would have kept Smart and Tatum...everyone else was fair game in my mind.

It seems sort of clear that once the Brogdon deal fell through that Boston had probably been asked by memphis about smart, and were likely interested in tyus as a replacement for a point. But since the deal was last minute, they couldn’t get tyus and he was sent over to Washington instead. Would make way more sense if he was included for the Celtics since now they lack a playmaking point and tyus would have filled that role well

It’s crazy how stacked the Celtics are and how good their coaching staff is but they just can’t get over the hump. They currently have 2 guys who can play elite defense (White & RW) and 2 guys who are capable of playing elite defense at times (Brown and Tatum), they have a superstar in Tatum, a great 2-way all star in Brown, a really good stretch big who can play good to great defense in Porzingis, a former 6moy who can still lead an offense in Brogdon, a solid stretch big and veteran in Horford, and a very reliable 2-way player in White. On paper it seems like no other team has a roster that has the same depth and quality as them but they always come up short. The way these guys talk about this team seems like they should’ve won a championship by now.

Only celtic role player Ive seen who thinks he's a star and bigger that the team, his big ego took himself out of the team. They cant even bench him even if he's playing bad. They finally got tired of it. White and Brogdon played their roles while Smart thinks he's untouchable no matter how bad he plays.

And thats what most Celtics fans just seem to not understand. He will do 5 dumb errors take a stupid 3 that will have me wanting to pull my hair out but 1 dive to the floor and he gets everybody hearts again. His ego was to big to accept his role causing White and Brogdon to outplay him.

The nuggets defense on Jimmy worked more because he was absolutely gassed. In that series he was passing out of shots he easily made in previous rounds, especially against the bucks where he was cooking Jrue, Giannis and Brook

Who knew that Bill's Dad was David ' Almost Cut My Hair ' Crosby? Their theory on Marcus and the Coach sounds plausible though. I think Smart's legacy is equivalent to Danny Ainge. A hustler who could win some games, who ultimately outlived his usefulness

As a Grizz supporter, you can have Smart back. He doesn’t fit the Grizz roster and will have trouble vibing with the team. He’s a smaller version of Dillon Brooks and we gave up 2 first round picks and our 6th man to get him. For everyone saying he’ll be the new Tony Allen, Allen knew his role and didn’t try to shoot them out of games. Smarts going to ruin the flow of the Grizz’s offense exactly how Brooks did. Grizzlies won’t win 50 games next season.

No matter what you think of Smart you can’t put Dillon Brooks in the same stratosphere as him. Clowning Smart is funny and deserved often, but don’t even think about comparing those two players. Smart is just better than him, and if he’s in the Dillon Brooks spot, you’re a better team. Now two first round picks?? Idk about that one

Tony allen > Smart, you never heard about Tony Allen trying to out shoot Paul Pierce before coming to memphis, While Smart thinks he's on the same level as Tatum. Tony played his role and knows his limitation, while on the hand with Smart, all they are asking from him is play his role but never accepted his limitations.

This season Grant Williams, Rob Williams, Marcus Smart, Payton Pritchard, and to a lesser extent Jaylen Brown all took steps back. The reason is, without a doubt, Joe Mazzula. This guy is a confidence killer. I won't expect the Celtics to play to thier full potential as a team until Joe Mazzula is gone as the coach of this team.

Brad got the GM job with "no experience whatsoever?" He was in the room, or consulted with, on every move Danny Ainge made for Brad's entire tenure as coach. What better experience could you get than that?

Im a Denver fan-you all know far more bout Boston than me. But I think you make great points bout Smart,& it has been clear the Celtics were far too 1 dimensional,& dependent on the 3 pointer. And Ive also kinda thought Jaylen Brown is a decent #2...but if hes your 2nd best player-you probably are gonna just fall short-which they always do. 5 of 7 ECFs is an amazing run...Philly,& mr MVP Embied would probably throw themselves a parade if they could lose 1 ECF. Hell-I think KAT wants a parade for the play in tourney. But I have felt for awhile if Brown is your 2nd best player-you probably just arent QUITE good enough...no way would I trade Jamal Murray straight up for him-granted different positions,& stylistically. But if Brown is your 3rd best player-you probably have the best team in the East at least-maybe the NBA-& unless Miami gets Lillard or somebody similar-Id say Boston should be East favorites right now. Or if maybe Milwaukee lost Middleton-its possible they could add somebody similar but a bit younger, more durable,& lil bit better now...of course a lot of Buck fans will always remember the Middleton that was their 2nd/3rd best player,& an All Star on their title team. But I do think your team kinda maxed out its potential basically,& your ceiling looks higher today. Long ways from this-but a potential Finals vs this Celtic roster would scare me more vs Nugs than your prior roster. Only question for me...I dont think you want your 2 offensive Allstars to be your 2 best wing /perimeter deffenders...isnt that the case now? Maybe Im off here,& overall I think you guys got better...& Smart was tough deffensively, mentally tough as hell,& a true leader. But you are right-he totally thought he was better offemsively than he is,& as opposing fan Id often be thinking "why is Smart taking a deep jumper with the game on the line"-so its funny you said that.

Pretty sure saying White is better than Jrue getting around screens is scarilege. Don't say that on on NBA Twitter. Idk if hes the best but he's very good. Certainly in the conversation for best screen navigator. Personally I think young Marcus is the best ive seen because he was so strong and compact you couldn't bump him off. I thought him going around screens was like a dog slipping under a fence. Even if there wasnt a hole he would make one through raw stength and determination.
