C. Scott Brooks-Miller began service in the U.S. Marine Corps three weeks after his 17th birthday in 1968. He arrived in I Corps, South Vietnam, soon after his 18th birthday in 1969. He experienced significant combat in north-central and northeastern I Corps at the Rockpile, Mutter's Ridge, Gio Linh and other sites. After returning from Vietnam and later service in Okinawa, he served with Marine Corps embassy security, based in Washington, DC. He worked nearly 30 years with the National Park Service.
