Good that you have shared this. I hope that one day primary and secondary schools in Kenya will employ SNAs( Special Needs Assistants) to work along with teachers and students with special needs like ADHD, AUTISM, ADD, ASPERGER SYNDROME ETC. I work as an SNA in one of the secondary schools in Europe. I did a special training course to help such students to reach their potential. The school where I work has 16 SNAs who assisst students with different diagnosis. Without our help these students cannot be in a position to learn and enjoy being in school.

What people don't realise is that the word DEPRESSION is deep and you just can't say it jokingly. It became real like really real the day I was diagnosed with a Major depressive and anxiety disorder and this is even despite me knowing for four years that there was something really wrong with me. It's not easy to talk about it and even the medications that people call THE HAPPY PILLS they are really not.

Tears down my face.. 1st fellow Kenyan I've seen admitting to ADHD.. for some reason, Kenyans even here in the US think ADHD is for wazungus. And the word POTENTIAL, how many time I've heard that! In school, I thought "careless" and "lazy" were my middle names. Thanks for telling your story.

Thanks Vick Kara: In our African culture we call each other wazimu! We throw stones. Am happy i went through depeer depression longtime ago. It helped me to know who cared then, who didn't, who laughed at me, who called me names! I thank God. I work as a social worker, as mental health coordinator! So Annabelle made my day by teaching others! God bless us all!🙏🏽🙏🏽😊

Wow, this channel always shares outstanding testimonies, this is one of them. Honestly, I am not this extreme but I have those traits, not finishing sentences and speaking what is not in my head, I normally jokingly say, my mouth sometimes betrays my mind. I never thought it is a sickness 🙆‍♀️ It can only be God that I have survived all these years and 20 years in my career 🙏🏾

Very insightful interview. Mental health is very very overlooked in this country. Training of foundational and primary teachers ought to be compulsory. This would have saved so much trauma and torture. Glad she is okay though and lives well.

I like the way your parents and teacher who realized your challenge and tried their best to fix your issue.....weeh it's never that easy Nduta! I feel like I had the same problem but no one noticed😊😊😊, I remember those silly mistakes my teacher commented on it but it brought latter and severe punishment to me esp with my mother🤗🤗🤗🤗, she really stigmatized me even now.... whenever I make a mistake I feel the same thing my parents would shout at me.

An amazing story. Thanks Annabelle for speaking up . I agree with you that we truly need to have compassion all around us.. I also believe that for most people to get the best out of adult life requires some check in childhood life. Its a worthy journey going back. Kudos gal😍
